I'm off there on Friday for the weekend for my 21st. Cant wait!!!

Anyone been and know the best places to go?

We're staying in Wenceslas Square which from what I've read is right in the centre of the city?

Yes. There's a pub there called The George & Dragon which was full of Englishers when I visited if you want that sort of thing. I think the booze in the main square is pretty much the most expensive in the whole country so if you want bargains have a wander.

Be careful where you drink. My mates and I went out about midnight as we got there really late and all they wanted to do was stay in this one crappy bar rather then explore the area so I said i'd buy the next round if we went somewhere else. You hear about everywhere being 30p a pint etc so I thought i'd pulled off a good deal. Anyways my mates crazy friend dragged us into the Strip Joint that actually ended up being a brothel. We ordered 3 beers, and when they came they were cans the size of coke cans and it cost me £15 for the round lol! We just sat there in silence as we drank the beer as all the porzzies just stared at us... it was very uncomfortable lol!

Saying that we did find a few places that were only about 50-60p a pint and weren't full of prostitutes lol. Stay away from old town square as its really expensive, very picturesue tho so worth a wander around during the day.

Wenceless Square aint much to look at and isnt really a square... but there's a really really nice restuarant around there that is just on the left after you've left Wenceless Sqaure on your way towards Old Town Square. Dunno what its called but its down some steps in to a cellar and is all really chic but tasty and cheap.

The Charles Bridge is really cool and interesting, the castle is pretty expensive to go round and unless you have a guide it's pointless as all the info on cabinets and the walls isn't in English.

If you enjoy Prague i'd highly recommend Krakow in Poland as your next venture as although its not as picturesque I enjoyed it more and its a bit cheaper.

watch out foir the gypsy birds who try to link you and dip your pocket, they'll start rubbing you up in the street and have your wallet.
we went to a great bar which is close to 'the powder tower' and is a warren of tunnels and rooms, looks like a normal old bar from outside but you go through a door inside and head down, loads of locals in there too so a good laugh.
it's a chance for some excellent grub too, this place was fantastic and cheap considering what you get . it's in the old customs building and owned by pilsner urquell.

Oh I almost forgot to mention the street prostitutes too...

1) Many have HIV so if you do have to sleep with prostitutes when your there use the ones in the strip joints/brothels and always rubber up!

2) The street prostitutes will wonder up to groups of men and put their arm round you and try ot convince you to sleep with them. DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS! I was really pissed and thought it was funny these women coming up and putting the arm round you etc... only problem was that they do this to pick pocket you. I spent half the night chasing prostitutes through the streets to get my phone back. In the end I did get it even if it ended up in a slightly awkward moment with her pimp. I did lose 30 euros that I never saw again, so be very very careful and if they even get within 10 yards of you check your pockets when they have gone or you'll be missing things.

If you ever get bored of the sexy Prague girls (like you ever would!!) take a trip on the train to here..........Kostnice Ossuary, Kutna Hora, Sedlec, Church of Bones (about 2 hours journey)

Really messed up church where the monks arranged bones into ornate features such as chandaliers or weird bird-like creatures!

Think it was due to the graveyards being too full during the black death - what else would you do with the bodies!!!

Sadly though, can't remember there being many bars there, which means you probably won't leave Wenceslas square!!

Have fun.:D:D

I found a website being a guide to the city, they talk about how the prices have escalated due to tourism, but they say the average price is approximately 30CZK which is a quid. The trick apparently is to get the 10% stuff instead of 12% as all the hardcore brits and other tourists go over there and choose the 12% which is stronger, so they have escalated the price of that more than they have the 10% ?????

I will definitely be on my guard, the last time I went away was my Fiorentina trip where I lost my wallet (n)(n) and by the sounds of it a need to have much more awareness.

So the moral of the story is this: being a tourist in Prague is like having a red sign painted on your forehead saying "Sucker".

Did anyone mention pick-pocketing prostitutes?

Seriously, have a good time mate and heed the advice given. I've been in a few situations myself abroad and things can get ugly very quickly if you give people just an inch.

I'm hoping to find somewhere that will have the Calzaghe fight on so hopefully that might come up trumps (y)

Prague is beautiful but has a grim underbelly. Every single bar I went to had prostitutes. Night clubs dont really exsist- they are all strip clubs with rooms up stairs for women to take blokes up.

Wasnt my cup of tea at all, Im being serious. Ive never had to pay for it and I never will.

we had a laugh with the touts on wenceslas square, you can buy ale from the hot-dog places along the side. the touts will take you round the big brass houses and if you want to stay in you pay an entrance fee. it was like a west coast rap video, mtv the grind and buttman does prague all rolled into one. there are some nice bars there if you want to see the place, and micro breweries as well. i found all the pilsner just filled me with gas so i tried a lot of darker stuff.
