He would. He takes a ball to feet and offers himself as an outball further up the pitch and turns away from players. Rooney and Sigurdsson don't - they're always looking forward instead of back. Good at what they do, but they don't do what Barkley does.

Rooney gets his head up better than Barkley tho.

The midweek game isn't really an issue, or shouldn't be until the last 20.
It doesn't matter who of the big guns we play away, we just go out devoid of any confidence and ambition and simply invite our opponent onto us, with quite horrifying relish it seems.
This is it time and again, maybe group hypnosis is the answer or something as changing managers, players, and formations certainly hasn't been over 25 woeful years of this torture.

Absolutely no width again, no surprise we've looked at our best this season when we play with width and a winger or two on the pitch

Tbf we got royally had off with an offside, over extra time goal

Also McFadden scored a legitimate winner in the last minute many years a go.

Refs make sure we don't win these fixtures.

Regarding today 3 monstrously tough away games in 6 days would crucify most sides, let alone one that has had a couple of weeks to try and gel and has several players missing.

Agreed, but that's not what I'm talking about. It's the ability to move into space off the ball, roll a marker and give the simple pass, because it gives the side as a whole the chance to move 5-10 yards up the pitch.

Instead, we're hitting loose passes and Kante/Fabregas are picking them up unchallenged, because Sigurdsson and Rooney don't move into the same space.
