Not sure what the question is?

Well often PM's are posted in the forum, and aired in public. Sometimes necessary. But just want to know if they carry the same weight.

So if someone uses language not befitting the forum, and gets pulled up on it. If that's wrong, is it also wrong for the same person to use language not befitting the forum but in the PM's.

I'm happy to take advice if I have done wrong, and I have tried to curb my profanities and personal insults. I really have. But if someone who seems to make it their personal mission to censor someone doesn't heed his own advice when he insults a friend of mine, is that right? or is that wrong?

Where is the line?

Take it your arguing with someone again Ghost? Am not even sure if its me?

Or is this a dig at how the forum is ran?

I dont fully understand, my heads scrambled with work, I can quite easily disable your PM if thats what your getting at?

i think to fill in between the lines...

because i have also been receiving pm's from a certain poster which contains bile. this poster is just using the pm facilityas a medium for swearing. very out of the blue and quite shocking.

also the shout box now seems a place to swear and abuse fellow posters.

for those who don't have the ability to read the shout box it reads

w
a
n
k
e
r
teppic?

i find this very offensive. and personal.

For the public record. Its not Danny.

I'll not be cryptic. Its Micknick. I won't be pulled up to task about using profanities by someone who can't practice what he preaches.

If I call someone a [Poor language removed] on the forum I'll be told off, if I call someone a [Poor language removed] via pm I won't be. I'm guessing that's what Ghost is saying.

On the forums I run, if people get pm's they're not happy with they report them to me and things are dealt with that way. It's fair enough to expect personal disputes to be had in private but I don't think that provides carte blanche to say whatever you want.

Well Bruce, its also about practice what you preach too.

Sometimes I feel like I'm being watched like the FCC by Micknick, yet he can't curb his own tongue, but because its not in the open forum, its ok.

Well its not is it?

The odd swear is perfectly acceptable on here as far as am concerned. If you take offence, you know were to go.

However, constant swearing at others (personally) is were the line is drawn.

Depends entirely on the context, I personally wouldn't take offence if someone said to me "oh [Poor language removed] off Danny, McFadden is crap" However, "Danny your a f**king prick" is perhaps another story. Obviously very much depends how you interpret it.

So c'mon, grow up lads, cba with the bickering.

Report me, do what you want. We have two posters here that often stick their foot in when things have nothing to do with them- yes I PM'd teppic for being a patronising git and maybe it was a bit OTT but again as always he was getting involved with something that had NOTHING to do with him.

Ghost doing what he does best in his bestist smug way (dont forget :) ) also got involved calling me a hypocrite. If you want to drag this place down and bring everything in the open fine but it takes this place to the gutter as well.

well bruce,

interesting thoughts.

i have no inclination to receive abusive pm's. also open attacks should not have to be tolerated on this family website.

i'm unhappy with the treatment.

Danny, for me its a matter of principle. I don't see why I should be publically pulled to task on numerous occassions by someone who in private does the same. Regardless of history between Micknick and Teppic, its not ok to insult people, and its certainly not ok to say its wrong, go around the corner and do the same.
