Help my vista laptop has locked me out, my bro tried to speed it up for me and now I am locked out, it is asking for passwords and usernames that I didnt set up, I can only get into it on safe mode, there is a techguys restore disc that you can burn off on the startup menu, but it wont let me do this in safe mode, also if you start up and press f8 there is supposed to be an option to repair your computer there, but it is missing,I have been told that this is a common problem on vista, and if you search google and state, repair your computer option is missing, that there should be a fixit disc that I can download, but I am not sure what I am looking for and dont want to make a bad situation worst, any help would be really appreceated.thanks

Moved to Ale House.

I am sure one or two on here may be able to offer some help - but you would probably receive greater joy from asking on a more technical forum?

Have you got a restore point? Can be found in control panel > Performance & Maintenance.

Find a restore point before this problem happened and go through the onscreen steps, this will undo any changes that you did to your computer/laptop since this date, however it keeps all work and pictures you saved in your files.

odd that you can access the system via safemode - because i believe that requires usernames and passwords also.

surely they are the same for when you boot up normally?

MY password doesnt work sometimes when i log in, i just go in on safe mode as administrator and change my account password on there, always works..

Its atorrent file I have bittorrent, do I need to convert it or can I just download it and burn as it is, sorry I no I sound a bit thich but not got a clue.

Depends on the file format. If it is a .zip or .rar then yes, you will have to unpack it. Be a bit wary of what you open from a torrent. There are unscrupulous people out there who would think it a laugh to disguise a Trojan horse as a legit file.
