i always thought they were pelicans, but my kids tell me different. the local bobby has had them all down to the "puffin crossing", i called it a pelican one day and got told straight by a 6 y.o. that it is a puffin crossing.
in sydneys botanical gardens there are thousands of minor birds, the ones that populate the area close to the road and , shall we say 'pedestrian' crossings, can do the green mans beep absolutely perfectly, which isn't good news if you are blind.
