i cant fathom what the problem is, too many times players on the edge of the area are looking to continually pass or even cross the ball instead of having a shot at goal. carrick blazed one wide yesterday, not afraid to have a go.

why did it take mcfadden to have a go? he came on in the 85th minute.

is it confidence? is it trying to walk the ball into the net? has moyes purposefully trained shooting from the edge of the box out of the players? (is this why mcfadden doesnt get game time)

the players, especially arteta need to have a crack, trust to luck and get laces through the ball, it has to start happening.

oh and regards mikel, if the freekicks dont start improving, baines and gravesen can step up for a share.

To be honest Yakubu shot twice from outside the area yesterday.. but misfired and delivered two very lame shots. Jags did shoot as well, harder, but he fired over.

What we need is for the players to start hitting the goal. In my eyes it's better to fire a hard shot straight at the keeper than to miss the goal entirely. If you hit the keeper there might be a rebound to slam into the net.

Arteta must not have enough confidence in his shot or too much confidence in his passing/crossing. He's so good creating space at the edge of the box he's got to shoot more. I know after the sweet goal against Bolton last year the coaches kept saying they've been pleading for him to shoot more I don't know what keeps him from giving it a go. Its the one weakness in his game.

and you know what happens the moment we shoot at every oppotunity?

suits will start a thread entitled - "learn how to pass"

lose lose situation with some people isn't it.

arteta in particular has this disease.

normally once a game at least he passes or crosses a shooting oppportunity.

If he can work on this and add an extra 6 or 7 goals a season, he'd be so good he'd almost get in the Spanish squad ahead of Alonso.

leonbil, going on last season, that would be around 16 or 17 goals. Thats a fine return for a forward, let alone a midfielder!

I'm just glad Phil Neville isn't trying shots from the edge of the box anymore. How come our rebounds always seem to fall to him?

Leon put a nice one away against the mancs though, shame it was disallowed
