I'm glad in a way as there music for me was becoming tiresome to listen to.

OK Computer was the pinacle for me, after that it was a case of bullet proofing my abode away from suicidal equipment.

The early stuff for me was excellent.

Paranoid Android is a tune, but then it all stopped. Shame.

Anyone disagree? Educate me on post-OK Computerisms

With you all the way on that. OK Computer was as good as they got, quite liked No Surprises on that. Then they just became self indulgent and depressing.

Like a few others, once they reach a certain level and have all the cash they need, some bands seem to just churn out mediocre material for the sake of it, Coldplay for instance.

Agree with everything there mate, the early stuff was amazing

Plastic trees and Karma police were my fav's

My favourite is Punch Drunk Love. Just reminds me so much of being young. B-side from My Iron Lung. Quality and haunting.

I thought the early stuff was gash. Pablo Honey was awful. The Bends was really good, and OK Computer was a slight improvement, although i felt it was a different concept, it had some MASSIVE tracks on it.

BUT i love all their new stuff. Kid A for me was frickin ace. I loved the fact they were like, "yeah were gonna try this" it puts other bands into retrospect. They knew what people wanted, but they didnt wanna do that, and i applaud them for it. They changed direction, but thats good, cos it shows progress over the years. I like to be able to look back at a bands discography and say oh yeah "the bends era" and all that jazz. It splits opinions and i'm all for it.

They're a top band whether you just like the one album, or just one song. Everyone's had their share of radiohead.

How old are you out of interest?

I quite like Pablo Honey and The Bends for a bit of nostalgia but listen to their new stuff far more. As Macaroni said, they've evolved as a band and taking creative risks is a big plus against their name because contempories such as Coldplay continue to churn out the same type of music they were doing at the beginning.

The accusation that their music is depressing is one that's often used but one that I don't really get. I mean Street Spirit lyrically is not an optimistic song but I still like it because it's such incredibly high quality. You can't help but smile simply for the fact that such beauty is there.

So many bands are the musical equivalent of bubblegum, churning out stuff that's nice enough, harmless, identical to others in their genre, it's instantly refreshing to have a band that's willing to put their necks on the line. They had to call it a day sometime but they'll be sadly missed.

True, but I enjoyed the energy that the early stuff brought, plus it was experimental, even back then.

24 last time i checked.
Pablo Honey is pants.
Anyone Can Play Guitar, Prove Yourself, I can't, Lurgee, You, How do you - all sub standard tracks. There are a couple of knock out tracks i.e Stop Whispering and Blowout, but not enough to constitute a solid album for me. Thus, gash. Bjork's first album came out at the time and i thought that was better.

But I'm glad that this album wasnt AMAZING because it made the follow ups sound better. I dont even like the way it was recorded it sounds really lo-fi. Even some of The Bends tracks you can tell are kind of 'Pablo Honey' but they just sound 10 times better, I think due to the fact they got Nigel Godrich on board.

Ok well no offence but you were 7 when Pablo Honey was released. So when you were at an age to contribute an opinion to music you arrived at Radiohead when there music had changed somewhat.

Pablo Honey was raw, it was rough because it was a debut album, not many bands have the funds to put out something polished and clean. But then Radiohead then were about jangly guitar, noise and melody. Not now as they are more accomplished as musicians.

I don't think Pablo Honey was gash, if it wasn't for that album then you wouldn't have heard the rest.

Think of it like that, and not like well this is nothing like Kid A or OK Computer. It's not supposed to be, all bands evolve with the exception of Oasis type stuff.

Look how much the Beatles changed from Please Please Me to Sgt Peppers.

Yes I know what your saying, but I just dont like that album. I can understand the album fully, i know where its at. YES there are some REALLY good songs. But to me the album just screamed mediocre, and you mentioned i wasnt there in 93 to herald it as an up and coming scene. But i didnt just jump on the Radiohead Wagon when OK Computer arrived either, i just started my listening later on in the 90's. As mentioned before, I'm all for change, i like progression in bands, its what sets them apart and gives us talking points.

Btw what did you think of In Rainbows?

Well I'm of the early period rather than late. So not really heard enough of it to comment. Going to give the later stuff a go today.
