I don't get all these relegation shouts.

Before the injuries hit we were 4 wins from 5 games and 1 loss in 9 at the beginning of the season.

Surely once all are fit again we should be looking at similar stats.
Past performance guarantees nothing about future performance.

He had nearly everyone back for Brighton besides Richarlison and Mina and we still lost.

It's blind hope and nothing else to say he is going to turn it around with a full squad.

Which is probably why he's signing more younger players who are naturally more inclined to listen to him.

Its why if Benitez is booted we need Jose Mourinho if we go down the road of another disciplinarian - he's still regarded as a good level manager even if he's past his best days.
Oh my God man!

Defo a WUM post this!

Hows the GOT Score coming on?

'Surely' is the optimal word here.

Have you seen the table mate ?

Best not look at the form table after 5 games then.

I don't think it's any coincidence that our younger players have looked like they are more willing to accept his rigid instruction.

On Mourinho, I don't think he is anymore either. He has exactly the same baggage as Benitez and both are seen as in decline rather than 'on the up'.

Problem is - no good manager "on the up" will touch this club with a bargepole!

I disagree that Mourinho is past it tbh - he won the Europa League and League Cup with a suspect Utd side in 2016 which was only 5 seasons ago in which they haven't had a sniff of a trophy since (also had them 2nd in the league).

I would say anyone pining for Carlo back he's probably the most similiar in terms of the "level" of what we could realistically attract.

Those who say it's the lowest they've felt as an Evertonian are either quite young or have shortish memories. We went years without signing a decent player in the nineties. We had a Kopite owner who ran the club into the ground. We've been 1 game away from relegation twice. I confess I expected better when Moshiri came, but I think it would be a stretch to say it's the lowest I've felt. I'm apathetic at the moment, although that might be an age thing! If I was 25 I'd probably feel low.

If you think an up and coming manager won't touch the job what makes you think Mourinho will?

No surprises there after you've spent 8 months kissing the arse of another fella who is living on past glories.

It's been 27 years since we won anything so we aren't that young.

It is also the worst form in about 30 something years.

"On the up"

Yet you want Potter

Pretty contradictory.

Because there is a big chasm of grey area between "elite manager" and "past it dinosaur"

Mourinho is in that grey area now having once been an elite manager - he's isn't getting the Man City / Chelsea / PSG job anytime soon but he's still miles better than some of the bums our fans crave like Lampard and Big Dunc.

The wages we pay our managers, plenty would come.

1 loss in 9? When? And sorry but if you don't get relegation shouts about team that has been getting 0.5 points per game for a third of the season has lost to two newly promoted sides and a handful of other bottom half stalwarts and has conceded 23 goals in its last 10 games then you seriously need to wake up. Thinking we can get out of trouble is one thing but not being able to see we're deep in it is either frighteningly naive or wilfully blind.

Genuine on the up managers im talking about will get better wages elsewhere mate.

Tuchel was an up and coming manager
Pochettino leaving Spurs was an up and coming manager

The likes of Lampard, Rooney and Potterball are not in the same ball park.

So why are people banging on about it not changing then?

Works both ways.
