Box to box midfielder, lots of energy, decent shot, likes to run beyond the strikers, he's the Portuguese Darren Fletcher.

Good player but I wouldn't call him a playmaker, he's not exactly what Liverpool need, which is a passer, someoene who can like defence to midfield. He's more dynamic than Mascherano and Lucas, though, so it'll be a decent signing.

This. Good player, but they should go for somebody like Defour.

Either combination of Poulsen-Meireles, Poulsen-Gerrard and Meireles-Gerrad has some serious flaws in there, and it will look even worse, if we would put Lucas into the mix.

I'm not fan of Gerrard as a centre midfielder but looking at it, he's probably the closest thing to Alonso they've got. He's nothing like him, and nowhere near as good in that position, but you know what I mean.

I think he's got to play as a centre midfielder for them, certainly if you are looking to get the right balance as a team. In a three man midfield Meireles and Gerrard would probably work, although they'd need support from Cole and one of them would have to play a more disciplined role in there.

Could be a good player for them, he looked decent enough in the World Cup. A lot of reds seems ecstatic at getting him, and they'd know a lot more about "latin" football than I do.

The people who were ace at the world cup will be gash in the league. While the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney et al who were gash at the world cup will be ace for their clubs. You heard it here first

Cue shedloads of sombreros on the Kop, 'witty' songs with the word 'arriba!' in them, and Diego Rivera inspired banners.

They're so ******* predictable.
