Redknapp - 5th place is out of reach

Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
Following our weekend defeat Harry Redknapp has told The News that he feels 5th is now a bridge too far: 'I think fifth is very difficult now. You have to fancy Everton.

'It's not impossible and of course we'll keep going.

'But our main priority now has to be the FA Cup.

'Winning that would be a terrific achievement. Imagine what that would mean to our supporters'.

You can understand what Redknapp is saying, as in all honesty it is looking as though 5th is going to be too much to ask as Everton are 7pts ahead of us and would have to lose at least 3 games I would say, or at least drop points in several and we would have to win all the games we have left - which is possible I guess, but is a big ask…

Clearly the FA cup is the priority, but we cannot just give up on the league and in all honesty I do not think that we will. We all know what Redknapp is like for playing things down, so by again doing this with a possible 5th place finish this is being done again.

But come on fellas lets be honest what would you rather? Finish 5th and not win the FA cup, or finish 6th or 7th - which are certainly more than possible and would still be a fantastic finish - dare I say it even 8th or as low as 9th and lift the cup? I know what I would rather do!

Ideally we can win the cup and still finish 5th, but I will just take winning the cup now this season, that would suit me down to the ground - and I will be devastated if we cannot go on and achieve this now.

Lets hope he's right, an pompy take their foot off the pedal in the league a bit. I'd say only Villa can catch us then, An they'v hit a dip in form.

No matter what, Finishing fith would be a great achivement this season. Plus our great run in europe shows what big strides we'v taken this year.

Once again, Hats off to the Gaffer.

Agree mate. I hope Evertonians dont get to carried away with the 4th spot to fail to realise that 5th place would be a great achievement
