Lads I need something to research and do an essay on.

Examples;

Media and the fear of crime
Attitudes towards young people and alcohol consumption;
Gender and the division of domestic labour;
Gender and Body Image
Equal opportunities in the workplace;
Attitudes towards the role of religion in a secular society;
Reasons for gender differences in educational

Ideally looking something along the lines of social issues and crime though. Any ideas.

1.think how a certain ethnic group have been tainted by the actions of extremism - terrorism is a crime.

2.kids in gangs, respect begins at home... its wide open

3.spiderman and whoever else climbing up cranes and buildings to highlight their plight.

4.im going to aim for underage sex and jail bait instances

5.struggling on this one, perhaps the pressures of society on athletes forces them to mistake cheating via drugs as being a legitimate means for success.

You could pick one measure and analyse the cause/effect.
 
Like sound of that Bruce but needs to be specifically on crime - also ideally something which I can interview someone to get valid opinions - so maybe a police officer.

Yeah sorry, I had it set to post and then the phone rang, by which time you and Suits had elaborated on your requirements more, thus making mine rather unsuitable. Thought what the heck though :)

You could use that as a basis however and contrast that with crime rates for immigrant groups. Depends how deep your study is I guess.

Plenty of other crime related issues in the news recently. I think there was something on the Daily Politics today about youth offenders and the causes of it and whether politicians naturally look for solutions that can happen within their term of office (ie short-term) rather than the more suitable long-term solutions. The copper interviewed suggested the main causes of youth crime were drink, drugs and family breakdown.

There was a story last week about cannabis useage and crime and whether the softer approach adopted in declassifying it has worked and indeed whether the police really care too much about it.

Like I say, depends how many words you have to play with.

Danny, if you are looking for a particular sector to study how about the outbreak of ethnic family killings, Pakistani guy was on the box tonight wiped out his entire family because the wife had an affair, and he is one of a few lately. Get involved in that type of study and you'll find a full can of worms to play about with from family structure, social responsibility to religion(y)
