2020/21 Richarlison

It's dead weird, he was composure personified when he slotted against that crew at Anfield. I didn't doubt he'd slot.

Last two games and I'd back Stuart Barlow to bag before him.

Needs to get back to being cool hand like again.
He was clean through against the rs, he hasn't had a chance quite as good since, although I agree he should have scored 2 or 3 in the last few games.

.....thats the point, I don’t think he ‘went missing’. Look at the chance he missed; came back to get his body in the way & deliver a terrific ball to Coleman. He didn’t sit and watch, he followed the cross in and was again on the end of the opportunity.

If a player goes missing, they aren’t getting on the end of the chances he has. He’s missing chances, he’s not in the best of form but he’s not the type who ‘goes missing’.
He's been missing for almost the entire season. He's been shown up by DCL who has a paltry return in the last 15 matches himself. We need our supposed better players to step up. Richarlison has been massively ineffective this season. I'd have no objections to cashing in on him if we got a respectable offer - but the fact we won't speaks volumes.

I think the idea that Richarlison is better than us is wrong. He's at the same level as Everton are at the moment, great on his day but not consistent enough. If he steps up next year then great but I can't see Barca or Real Madrid coming for him after this season.

Do like him in the 9. Gives both CBS problems with good movement in behind, holds the ball up well and is a real shithouse, just sadly lacks the composure to be a clinical slot machine.

He needs to channel his petulant side into a lust for slotting, then he’d would be an asset to any side and especially in today’s press heavy game.

We seem to play better with one upfront annoyingly. Both him and DCL have their strength and weaknesses but seemingly putting them together doesn’t seem to make either better.

As bad as he is playing, I would back him all day long to be much better next year.

He has a lite bit of growing up still to do. This is a bad spell for him and he is feeling the pressure. Once he comes out of this he will be a better player. Unfortunately it's probably going to come too late to get us into Europe.
Tim he’s twenty four, he’s supposed to be street wise coming from the slums of Brazil, he’s like a seven year old brat who can’t get his own way, taking a very long time time to grow up.

.....agree he’s not been at his best but he’s still terrific & arguably our most effective player. i don’t put him the sellable asset category, and you don’t sell your best players.

I'm hoping that this season's underperformance is due to personal issues or COVID-related strife in his life, because I had a lot of time for him previously. But this season's level has to be a one-off. More of this next term and we should be very worried. In the recent past, we have built around too many players who subsequently let us down. We can't clear out the dead wood this summer and build around another unreliable flake. This was a big season for DCL, and for a while he kicked on massively, before returning to the mean. But DCL's ceiling is now higher than it was. Richarlison must develop next season. Right now, neither of our main forwards are of the requisite standard.

Even when he's rubbish by his standards, he's essential.

Out wide with DCL up top, his threat gives DCL the space needed to operate. Richarlison provides more scoring threat when paired up top with DCL, but crowds DCL's space. He tracks back, harasses wing backs and midfielders and generally disrupts the opponents' transition from back to front. He also has passes in him like that perfectly weighted one-time reply to Coleman.

It would take a lot for me to say we should part with him and take our chances with a replacement. For those of you saying that he's petulant, he's generally borne being shifted around to suit the needs of the team at the expense of his stats with good grace. There are worse things than the odd tiff over who's going to take a free kick, though it does expose the need for another real field general that will keep him from getting too big for his britches.

....one is a regular for Brazil, the other plays for England. I think they are both terrific, I have confidence in both & I’m quite happy going forward with Richarlison & DCL.

We do need an effective back-up, though.
