Juan Roman Riquelme's agent claims Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for the Argentinian playmaker.

Villarreal are willing to sell Riquelme after the player spent the second half of last season back in Argentina with Boca Juniors.

There has been interest from several clubs across Europe, but reports suggest Spurs have lodged a 15million euros (£10million) bid.

Tottenham Hotspur are not the only English club interested in Juan Roman Riquelme, according to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane but Balague warns that whoever captures his signing will have to cater for his needs.

"I believe he is in contact [with Spurs]," Balague told Sky Sports News, "and I also believe that Spurs are not the only club in England that is after Riquelme.

just hope that one of the other clubs is us.

He will be [Poor language removed] in the Premier League, no work ethic.

Apart from when he rips apart Derby or Wigan. Then MOTD will purr over him with multi angle cameras.

Wasn't there a rumour a while back that he was coming to us, could we be quietly putting in a bid for him?

" ... whoever captures his signing will have to cater for his needs." Doesn't sound very David Moyes. Besides, we've already got Arteta as our "tactical focal point," not to mention Fernandes, so why would we be interested in RiquelME?

because the guy has the feet of the father son and holy spirit.

can he cut it with 17 stone of essien baring down on him? maybe, but he has proved himself to be one of the best passers in the game today, and when a side makes the ball do the work, a great deal of pressure is releaved everywhere else.

All good points, Suits, but can't Arteta do those things? We've been struggling on this forum - well, in one thread :dodgy: - to find a place for Tim Cahill in our midfield. I think we need a quality grafter before we need another quality ballplayer.

As long as Totthenham keeps ignoring their keeper and back 4 they aren't going to bother me.
