Even if we somehow persuaded Lukaku to stay for another season, we'd be a Lukaku injury away from being relegated. Cup runs (and hopefully wins) are brilliant but you can't ignore league form.

Oh wow we won a game last week

Forget the other 20 games this season we've been gash, plus the car crash of last year

Hanging on by your finger nails, still waiting for you "in" at the club

Ta ra lad
Eh? Hanging by fingernails?
\Midtable and two cup SFs...you dont hang on to your job at Everton for that.

An inconvenient truth...'lad'.

So for the minority who still thinks Martinez is the right man are doing so based on an FA Cup win.

So what's the answer for the flip side if this doesn't happen, we finish outside the top 10, and an eventual exit of top players?

Are these people happy for Martinez to carry on and say, spend £100million?
...can you squeeze another hypothetical in there on top of the three you posted?

That what you posted last week? Oh no, you didn;'t post last week did you?

The bigger picture is that every season we are not in the top is a lost opportunity. I don't want Martinez wasting all of this young talent and our transfer budget in the summer. The bigger picture is that many people have genuine fears that we could be relegated next season if we stick with Martinez. We need to somehow replace a 25 goal season striker. Given that Martinez' previous signing's in this area have been Kone and Niasse i am not that confident.
Martinez brought them in mate.

If you'd like to see who Eddie Howe can attract, be my guest.

A lot of people didn't post last week because winning a cup game doesn't affect their opinion on whether Martinez should go or not. Some people may like to come on and beat their chests every time we pick up a result but that's not a big time commitment these days

If he wins a cup great. Good to see us finally getting some luck because luck wins cups.

Whether you like it or not the real indicator of progression is the league. We are on a downward trajectory there. A cup final or win doesn't change that.

Oh I see.

Hahaha oh how the mighty have fallen

I'm glad that you're happy with a mid table finish and 2 SF, because it's not good enough for 99% of fans

The only inconvenience is that we have an absolute tit as a manager

The doors that way, see ye

For the love of GOT. Admit defeat and Bob over to the 'Out' camp.

If you come over many will follow. We can find a role for you. Chief in propaganda.

You have great loyalty to Martinez but 8 home defeats with this squad. Well it's all a bit Mike Walker, a record he equalled today.

Mano of us said that we'd judge his performance at the end of the season based on results. Consecutive bottom half finishes won't be good enough I'm afraid. Not with this team.
