Even if we somehow persuaded Lukaku to stay for another season, we'd be a Lukaku injury away from being relegated. Cup runs (and hopefully wins) are brilliant but you can't ignore league form.

The bigger picture is that many people have genuine fears that we could be relegated next season if we stick with Martinez. We need to somehow replace a 25 goal season striker. Given that Martinez' previous signing's in this area have been Kone and Niasse i am not that confident.

If he wins a cup great. Good to see us finally getting some luck because luck wins cups.

Whether you like it or not the real indicator of progression is the league. We are on a downward trajectory there. A cup final or win doesn't change that.

You have great loyalty to Martinez but 8 home defeats with this squad. Well it's all a bit Mike Walker, a record he equalled today.
 
Mano of us said that we'd judge his performance at the end of the season based on results. Consecutive bottom half finishes won't be good enough I'm afraid. Not with this team.
