Very few times, twice I can think of, that we have played that poorly.

No crisis.
Not a crisis, but dire straits.

We can't win a game at home and we rarely perform well at all in the league. All we are is a cup team at the moment, and that is really, really dire, as I remember a team our manager used to manage that was really good in the cups, in fact won one, and continued struggling in the league to the point they dropped out of the Prem. We're dropping down the league by the week, and people write it off to "developing a team". We're not. You develop a team in your first season a bit, then continue it in the second, then in the third it HAS, absolutely HAS to kick off in a good way, otherwise you've just signed some players and instilled wrong playing methods. Guess which one happened.

I was thinking about something yesterday when chatting to my dad (Evertonian, as I've mentioned) about Martinez - Wigan fans said things like "oh, give it a year or so until they get annoyed with him"... and they were right, weren't they? "Phenomenal" press conferences, "football arrogance", wrong decisions in the game/mismanagement, stubbornness to change certain ways when things clearly aren't working, and claiming excuses... all within a year, and just keeps getting worse with those.

...oh yeah, Moyes was ultimately responsible for it wasn't he? I keep on forgetting that.

Pity he didn't get 72 points when he was here with them then.

Moyes ultimately achieved a higher league placing though, which is actually more important. The league points record may be an indicator, but it's relative to the quality of the rest of the league that season. Anyway, that was 2 years ago. He hasn't come close since, so I don't know why you keep bringing it up. It's just shows how far this club has dropped under him.

It's interesting that davek is so disparaging towards Eddie Howe when his team consisting of the likes of Matt Ritchie, Charlie Daniels, Simon Francis and Dan Gosling is currently equal on points with a team consisting of top-tier talents like Lukaku, Barkley, Deulofeu, Coleman, Stones, McCarthy, Barry, Baines, Lennon, Mirallas, I could go through the entire squad and be lucky to find more than one or two that wouldn't get into Bournemouths starting XI. He's also shown himself to be much more flexible tactically over the course of the season whilst maintaining an attractive attacking football style with a team not half as talented as ours. I don't necessarily advocate hiring him but I've seen no evidence this season that would indicate that he'd be a worse option than a manager who has proven incapable of even getting us to finish in the top half.

The Arsenal fans had a Wenger out banner today.

They sit in the top 4, just been to the Nou Camp and have won 2 pots in the last 2 years.

But they still think it's time for a change, as they want more and mostly think that Wenger has had his day.

Compare and contrast to us, sat in 12th in the league with a £60m striker in the side, and stand on the brink of a second successive season where we finish bottom half. Yet some on here think that Martinez should get another season off the back of cup runs, it absolute madness and accepting his failure as being good enough for little old Everton. It isn't - he needs to clear his desk as he's failed, it's that simple.

I don't want to see the kind of limp, half arsed, tactically inept garbage that we produced today served up by this gonk next season

2017-18 Season, MARTINEZ remains @ the helm.....and some will still say it's a 'developmental phase'.

Pffff....

At least the 2016-17 campaign saw KONE shoulder the lone-striker burden well by weighing in with 5 goals combined, what a positive...

But remember the 72 points season though eh, what a joy that was...

We all agree 72 points was a great season
Unfortunately season 2 was 25 points down on that
Season 3 has the potential to be worse

We only have 6 away games to pick up points
