My point of view is very simple, I think Everton are capable of attracting a much better manager than Martinez, and therefore I see absolutely no valid reason why we should keep him when we can employ somebody who is better than him. Choosing an inferior manager over a superior one is just masochism in my book.

However I don't think this team is as good as everyone thinks it is. I don't agree that it is the best since the 1980's. The 07 - 09 team would smash this lot into oblivion. It had better players, a better manager, and were a much better team. Our midfield isn't very good at all, it might even be bottom half standard. It's certainly no better than mid-table standard. Our defence is OK and is being disabled by Martinez' insane tactics, but we really need to add to this squad if we want to compete. It's not that good.

BTW, being critical of fans is not 'railing' them. I am not the only one that feels that way. There are match goers who agree that the home atmosphere is not supportive at the moment. Not sure why you mentioned MLS either. I would absolutely love to be a season ticket holder...it would be a massive privilege and honor. Sadly I don't know if I will ever make it over for 1 match let alone live there.
I mentioned the MLS simply are their fans are a tad overzealous and I was thinking that's the level of support you expected from us.

For Christ's sake they have a fella at one team chainsawing wood when they score.
If that was at Goodison he'd have a steak bake launched at his head and legged out the ground 5 mins in.

Sadly my best friend is an ex pat RS supporter.

Gives me stick all the time...he's been pretty quiet this season thankfully...they've been crap too.

That and we still have a chance of actually winning something this season.
After today's showing a very slim one at that!

lol lol lol...excellent post

With the loss today his win % in all competitions this season is 45%...which is better than his overall win percentage at Everton.

Come on cheese adding in the cup wins against lower league opposition into our league win percentages is just lame. It pangs of a person not actually believing in what they are saying but just trying to win the argument game or a person on the WU. davek esk.

I wouldn't say we went 'toe to toe'' with Utd. That will be their easiest 1-0 win of the season. We had the best of the first half hour, but we were dire for the rest of the game. And it's not as if going 'toe to toe' with this Man Utd side is any great achievement - it's a very mediocre side by their standards.

Our attacking play in the second half was awful. It was a very disjointed display. If we played a team with more attacking credibility, we'd have lost more heavily.

Not at all...don't expect that at all.

You realize I have supported Everton for a long time. Anyway, I need to actually do something today. Carry on.

Minus Lukaku's goals and we'd be in doo doo land villa style

Was thinking about this in light of a great post by @Prevenger17

We might be too focussed on Lukaku - when he doesn't deliver, we're pretty goosed. He's scored what, 18 of the 41 league goals? If we were 7 points better off - hey, if we'd not burnt a two goal lead at home to West Ham and won one of the Swansea / WBA / Stoke games plus a draw .

If Moshiri is genuinely here to put the cash in, we are not in the Villa situation - despite the prospect of, er, losing a goalscoring Belgian centre forward and.... Er... Being in a Cup final after a disappointing league season.... And .... Er.... With Tom Cleverley not really impressing in our midfield... Er.....

Other than that, no real parallels

What's hard to understand about the fact the fans will support what's good and deride what's pure gash?

They're not braindead; the fans have eyes and a brain, so if they see something crap, they'll recognise it as crap.

As Peter Schmeichel said at half time today, it's not up to the fans to do anything - it's up to the players to give them something to support.

Come on mate by all means have an opinion on the season but this post is rubbish - even LVH admitted they stole it - had we been more clinical a point would have been the least we would have got.
