Roberto Martinez discussion

Martinez canmske a huge 'statement' tomorrow. Firstly dropping Tim Howard and secondly making John Stones captain during Jags lay off. By dropping Howard it will show his metal, thats hea not scared of making tough decisions. I remember Alex Ferguson dropping Jim Leighton after his dodgy performance in the cup final and playing Chris Turner(i think) for the replay. Very bold decision but it showed to the players who was boss.

Les Sealey wasn't it.

I wonder what Les is up to tomorrow and if he fancies a game, he's probably still better than Howard.

Mind you, so's Jim Leighton.

Hope Bobby can build the side like he wants but I would be open to the idea of Jose Mourinho at Everton in the future. Looks like he's going to be shown the door. All he needs is time at clubs which he can't get. He can have Stones too so wouldn't be all that bad. But for the record I hope Bobby can implement his style which so far hasn't worked out with glimpses here and there. I'd give him a couple of more years max.

So why did Newcastle, Blackburn and West Ham get rid of him?

Allardyce can offer attractive football, but too often opts for a more cautious, long ball style.

Let's see if you like the way Sunderland play tomorrow.

I didnt say i was a fan of Allardyce, im saying that you have to be a plotter to have doubts over martinez who had just been relegated, yet its perfectly fine to hate sam or tony ? Just because people have doubts over sam or tony for example just not make them a plotter yet it does if the same happens to bobby ?

Why are you talking about Evertonian reaction to those two? They weren't appointed Everton manager were they? The point being made by others is that even when RM was installed as manager the doubters wouldn't leave it there...they continued, even unbelievably in the first season, to oppose his tenure. That's why they were called plotters in the first place. There's a difference between those people and those last winter who turned against Roberto. A massive difference that you dont seem to be able to grasp.

He's the racist. He's never managed in a league where fair skinned people predominate...and that fascist armband he wears is a dead giveaway. He's anti-white.

Ferguson wasn't so decisive!

Leighton - in his second season at Manchester United - had been erratic all season. Bad results included a 5–1 defeat by Manchester City, a 3–0 defeat by Aston Villa on Boxing Day and a 4–0 defeat by Nottingham Forest in the last but one league game of the season. Manchester United finished in 13th place with 48 points, the same number as two newly-promoted teams, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

In the FA Cup Semi Final, Manchester United had drawn 3-3 against Second Division Oldham Athletic, winning the replay 2-1. But Ferguson and Leighton had been together at Aberdeen, so Ferguson remained loyal to him for the Cup Final. It was only after another poor performance in the 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace that he was dropped.

Manchester United had signed Les Sealey after the transfer deadline, but he was picked for the replay, again at Wembley. He played well and Manchester United won 1-0. Leighton only played once more for Manchester United, against Halifax Town in the Football League Cup on 26 September 1990.
