I'll be glad to see the back of him. I understand there is next to no loyalty in football these days but this belter has done nothing but moan about how he would rather be somewhere else. If Ross doesn't want to stay then he can go as well. Use the money to bring in 2 or 3 quality attackers who want to be here. I'm sure those 2 or 3 attackers could manage 30 goals between them.

I'm of this opinion too. A couple of years ago i'd of never imagined a starting eleven featuring Schneiderlin, Davies, and Gana. We also some have exciting prospects in Lookman and Calvert-Lewin.

It just goes to show, we kick on regardless. And with the new man in charge and potentially a new stadium on the cards i'm more excited than worried which is all I've wanted for a long long time..

Why is everybody so sure he leaves next summer regardless?

Maybe he stays 1 more season, fires us into the top 4 and then signs a new contract because we're in the CL the following season?

A few early bad results against lower league sides and he'll be pulling faces and getting stroppy.

He gave us an extra year, he is in career form and will net us 65m+

We got lucky in the first place to even have this guy at the club, we'll find a replacement(s) that suit having a Gueye/Davies/Schienderlin midfield to play off and we'll come out the other side for the better.

Let's be perfectly honest here - he's 100% gone in the summer. Nothing will convince him to stay here unless somehow we nab a top 4 spot on the final day.

We'll cope without Rom if we spend the windfall wisely - Juve have improved since selling Pogba, and Monaco are bossing it despite selling some of their best players over the last few years.

All comes down to the quality of scouting we have at the club - if Steve Walsh is all he's purported to be he'll scout us a quality replacement and improve the rest of the team using that £70m or so we'll be getting.

Yep.

Some club will spend a ridiculous amount of money for him.

And if it's Chelsea I will chuckle.

Hopefully Batshuayi comes our way

On this we agree Dave.

If he's adamant he's not going to sign a new deal at any price, then he has to go this summer in reality.

As if we hang on to him for another year, then we'll face the possibility of him turning down moves to hang on for 6 months and negotiate a Bosman. You can't risk that scenario with a £70-80m asset.
That's what I said!

..it's a good point and a very difficult one to answer. Leading scorers aren't everything (as we found out with Lineker) so much depends on our skill in the transfer market. We are in a business and a financial balance needs to be analysed. Every player has a value and the deciding factor will surely be whether a club are prepared to meet Everton's asking price.

The other point is the worth of keeping players who want to be elsewhere. Keeping Stones an extra season was applauded at the time but didn't really work in anybody's favour because the players form dipped and he became a disruptive figure.
This is key why we cant let him stay if he wont sign on the dotted line. He has it in his hands to also see to it that his fee can drop if he gives below par performances. Everyone outside the club will know he has the talent to do better but is affected by his circumstances and the interest will still be there for him.

I dont think he'd be bitching about it or obviously playing badly, but he could work to rule and that would not suit this club.

£70M bid comes in: take it and spend it...wisely.

Cooler heads will prevail at the end of the day. The player wants out, we want top dollar, a deal will be done.
