Romelu Lukaku

He is very good, not world class. He strikes me as the sort of centre forward you need to set your whole team up for. He needs quick breads and running at defenders, he is not going to hold up play and bring others into the game. Unfortunately he isn't good enough or reliable enough to for a champions league team to do that.

If for any reason it happened would you have him back?

Not really as his attitude would get worse.
Just a shame we didn't get a striker last summer, getting Tosun in Jan was a window too late, really knowing Lukaku wouldn't stay we should of had one lined up before he even went.
I actually thought at the time this might if been one if the reasons we did that deal so early, pathetic from Walsh and Koeman after getting such a crazy fee too not spend it right

I thought he did well holding the ball up tonight.

Sanchez was bloody awful at it yet no one seems to go on about his first touch.

The truth is Mourinho lined up for a nil-nil and got it plus Lukaku could have got the away goal on another night. Game of inches.

God yes, I was thinking before tho, now we have had some pretty good strikers over the years, but like for example people my age, I watched Lineker, Sharp in my youth and Yak was boss for a while, but then think of the Strikers United have in that time Cole, Sheringham, Cantona, RVP, Van Nostrilboy, a prime Rooney to name but a few, then they have to put up with Lukaku.

All those players played in better Utd teams. At the moment Utd are bypassing midfield. They have two plodders in midfield, neither who are particularly good on the ball and very little pace especially when they play Mata and Sanchez.

Fergie's teams were all about attack attack attack. Mourinho's are the opposite.

He is what he is - a boss finisher but a pretty average football player. When he's asked to be a complete lone striker he tends to struggle unless he gets support quickly. His childhood hero Drogba was twice the complete player, at his best in 09/10 he was as close to unplayable as you can get.

Rom had a few games like that for us but if he wasn't scoring we'd all be moaning about his horrendous first touch. Something that the creatures on Red Café also moan about :D

We will see what Rom is made of in the world cup

Drogba's scoring record was actually very average. Most seasons he only got around 10 goals. Rom has 12 already.

Plus he joined Chelsea when he was 25 and took a season to get going.

Drogba was great but you are remembering his entire career. I expect Rom to have a better career.
