Ronald Koeman discussion

What are the board expecting though? Our squad hasn't become better than any of those that finished above us last season.
Probably expecting our squad to begin closing that gap and be able.to.perform in all comps considering the mass money spent. Maybe even sneak an away win or two vs top sides to show we can compete.

Chelsea were shocking last season then he changed formation and they went on a run and won the league at a canter. Judging our season on one game is the height of ridiculousness.
Who's judging what on one game?

I've repeatedly said, ok not in the post you are replying to, that our performances in our first competitive games vs ruzomberok were absolutely dire and haven't really improved.

All that's changed is the excuse.

'Ooh it's pre season' to 'ooh they need time to gel' to 'ooh 3 games in a week'

So Koeman needs 7th place again and a decent run in the cups. Definitely achievable and likely to happen in my opinion.

Personally I think that would secure another season which is fair doos as obviously second season syndrome blah blah, be his full squad by then etc.

Problem is I don't think we're as nailed on for 7th as anybody believes, I think it will be a struggle. Especially if we can't cope with playing a few games a week. Granted they won't always be away games, but you catch my drift.

Our away form needs to improve also to be put simply. Not won away since january?

Problem is, compadre, you didn't want Koeman in the first place. You wanted De Boer above him.

You wanted Sissoko too. And then hoped people had forgot and used it as a stick to beat Koeman with

Your opinion is invalid. Hashtag sanctiomonus.

Haven't you got a baseball game to comment on instead? Now go rub up against some hopper and don't dare even @ me again when I warn you to back off.

The excitement is too much, I can't contain myself.

Our new motto below the badge should be 'Mediocrity Accepted'.

There's lots of issues to be addressed. I think the attacking side of the team right now is in a poor state and I can't see us scoring many goals over the coming weeks. The away form is also a concern as you rightly pointed out, we need to get more wins away at teams from outside the top 6- there can't be any excuses in those games.

It is extremely early in the season though and we've got a good squad of players. Comfortably the 7th best in the league in my view barring a Leicester/Southampton having an unbelievable season. Yeah, we're not playing total football but we've met our Europa League objective and four points isn't a bad return given the fixtures we were dealt.

Agree with most of your post mate but I'm saying 7th isn't as nailed on as we believe because of the fact we look like we are going to struggle to score goals, and we seemingly already can't cope with up to 3 games per week.

If the 3 games excuse gets belted out throughout the season I will be hugely disappointed.

I think winning the europa is our best route into the CL but also think it will take some almighty luck to get us even near the final.

Not expecting total football either, but when our manager blerts out 'we come to play attacking football, we like to attack' and proceeds to play 7 defensive players with a back 5, and we take 6 shots on target over 5 games or something stupid I begin to question what is going on!

He's maddeningly inconsistent. He's not exactly covered himself in glory tactically this year. The first half at Man City was his high point, but the rest of the games he's either put out the wrong side, or failed to adjust properly in time during the game.

How you can sit DCL for an unfit and unproven (in the PL) Sandro is remarkable. You don't have to be a genius. If a 32 year old Rooney has the legs to play 3 matches in a week, I'm pretty sure a 20 year DCL who can run all day can do it. It was so obvious how much better we were with an outlet for pressure, ESPECIALLY considering Schneiderlin was out, our best midfielder at retaining possession, was out and we needed that even more.

He really frustrates me. I want to love him desperately he's stubbornly not playing Kenny at RB, when he is the only true two way RB we have available to us right now, and he's proven himself worthy of a chance. If the lad makes a mistake so be it. Everyone else out there is at times too. It's so obvious we need the width that only Kenny can give us (until Seamus and Bolasie come back), yet not one minute. Not even a minute of game time.

With cup competitions you always need luck along the way but a good run in the Europa is definitely possible with our squad. We've got the players to compete on all fronts this season and I'll be annoyed if we don't.

There's probably going to be a few games where we look knackered but over the course of the season that happens to every team.

Good job we're aiming for top four then.......
Yes Pete, that's what I meant: by pushing one of the 'big boys' out of top 4, we're hotting up competition for places below 4th. 7th place this season is going to be a ding dong battle between Spurs,Arsenal and Liverpool.
Now Pete, I know what your next question is: can we win the whole caboodle? and, based on what I've seen to date, with this present squad, and with an astute manager like Big Ronkoe, playing a fearless style that intimidates and sweeps aside all opposition, then yes!!...yes we can.
A PL win, probably the Europa as well (it's not a hard comp that one) and a good run in the two domestic Cup competitions will appease most GOT members. Sure, there still be some on here who will moan at not winning all four competitions, but hopefully, if we win the CL next season, we might silence those moans ( for a short while at least! lol)
