The ex Cambridge manager was a proud follower of POMO to the extent he would order the corners of the pitch to be waterlogged by the groundsman to hold the ball up in thise areas after the hoof

Its true Khal cant remember his name at the minute,it was around the time Dion Dublin was starting out and Cambridge were in the then 1st division so it worked well for them for a good couple of seasons
This season??????The schedule must have been severely pegged back since the summer then. Remember when it was all talk of getting a top class manager in and going all out for a Champions League spot and putting Everton back at the top table?

Erm.........That'll be no, no I don't remember because it was never said.
The name rings a bell, the thing with football fans is we are fickle by nature,if a manager hits on a winning formula then finesse is largely forgotten about, the RS throughout the 70s/80s bored me with the take a lead then back pass, but that period is remembered for winning trophies,Arsenal under Graham boring defensive football but the fans remember being successful,Wimbledon,Bolton to a degree are the same,it all about results in the end and at the moment we arent getting themWas it Beck?
Only time will tell, but Koeman generally got the balance right between ball players and stoppers at Southampton. My view is that there's undue emphasis being placed on the current personnel and that belief that changing their names is going to be the solution will prove false.
This is a systemic issue we have here, not personnel. The inability of this manager to set up a team in any cohesive formation or style of play is both surprising and frightening in equal measure.
Dave they weren't - I remember sky doing a piece on this great at times to watch but defensive madness when we lost the ball. Even the lesser teams got quickly onto what were significant gaps all over the pitch. No mate. The FBs were usually there, they just didn't get close enough to wide men to stop them swinging crosses in...just like they're still not doing.
Some of the players are to blame definitely but, with respect, i'm not having that Ashley Williams - having played at the best 'small' club for possession football for years - has abandoned everything he knows and is good at to launch the ball forward of his own accord.
That's come from the manager. But why?
With one up front and pace on the wings, why is he telling Ashley Williams to launch it?
Mourinho
""Everton is not a passing team any more like they were in the past. Everton is a team that plays direct: goalkeeper direct, Ashley Williams direct, Ramiro Funes Mori direct. Everything direct."
He's bang on. The football we play mostly is long ball. It's horrible. We are so predictable. I hate watching us at the moment.
I agree Lukaku is not a target man, and what we were doing previously wasn't working either - I'd be very happy if we went to 4-4-2
