I am. Delighted for Davies most of all. But it's a one off in a pretty miserable season so far.

We used to have 60/70% possession under Martinez, look where that got us.

What we really need is a few players to up their game consistently and we will do just that.

We're looking for another attacker, and maybe that will be the one that has a bit more guile and craft.

Two assists for Ross today - he's shown he can do that playmaker role, as long as there's a few players around him making good runs.

You're point about teams sitting back is true though. But it's been the issue for abiut five/six years now.

get us a solid center half with legs, whoever it is go and spend big and get them in. Keep the back 3.

Get us a striker who will either compliment Rom or provide PROPER cover, and we're sorted until the summer.

Then the other additions will come.

We HAVE seen an uptick in the very short run period since just before Christmas. Mind you it was 'kin dire before that so we have to factor that in.

But you know as well as I do mate, that result today is no pointer for going to Stoke and Palace in the coming fortnight.

We know what our problem is: we can't hack it when teams sit back.

That's a great win today and the lad Davies must be on cloud nine and I'm made up for him. But City are one of the few teams that commit to attack in numbers. The game plan to sit back and hit on the break was sensible and paid dividends. But next week and the weeks following that we are back to facing other teams who stand off like Everton do.

He needs to show he can get this team accomplished enough to break the deadlock in those games and take all three points. We have something like 5 wins in the last 18 games. That ratio needs improving dramatically if we're to compete.

We've been probably one of the best counter attacking teams in the league in the last 4 years or so. Have been. Like you say, we're awful at breaking teams down. Have been under Moyes and Martinez as well.

Ofc its no pointer mate, the team still has fundamentally a lot of incosnistant players in it, but what it does do is build confidence - ESPECIALLY in the younger lads in the team
