Conte/Chelsea are now overplaying the injury excuse.

It went from "He'll need time to fit in" to "he needs to understand our style" to "er, yeah, he's in full training but 'injured'..."

He hasn't been in squads when he'd been in full training.

And Conte believes he is ahead of schedule, saying: "In my mind I thought that his physical condition was worse than the situation I found (when he came).

I thought I'd find a player who was not in good physical condition. Instead, I was surprised to find a player in good physical condition.

"It is a positive surprise. You saw that during the Arsenal game he played. He was my first substitution after the Willian injury.

"My worry is not about his physical condition, but only to go into our idea of football, to understand the movement without the ball and with the ball. For this, he needs a bit of period to go into our idea of football.”

Not a surprise, I'm saying for years his off the ball movement and football inteligence is nowhere near the top level.

Loved our Ross with us. Terrible decision to go there when he did.

Not our problem anymore though.

Plus he devastated my nephew in a similar way to how Rooney did me. (n)

His positioning and movement off the ball was rightfully often brought up when he was here; quite simply, he had a tendency to amble around.

Rightly or wrongly, the expectations of a player at Chelsea are however much higher and that is what Conte is alluding to in his comment.

If you look at the work the likes of Willian, Pedro or even Hazard put in off the ball (pressin and movement) then he's a few steps below.

Look what you’ve done to him lads. You forced him out of his boyhood club and now look at him.

YOU caused this. Yes YOU !!!

Lukaku and Stones got out before the hate got to truly toxic levels, whereas Barkley stayed until he could no more. And now you’re celebrating his demise. I suppose you’re just waiting for the lad to have a mental breakdown now eh?
We got good money for Lukaku and Stones whereas Barkley engineered a situation where we got nowhere near what we should.
