Barkley would be perfect in the Fellaini role. Small risk in that position. No reason why he shouldnt be playing on Saturday.
We'll see Neville or Hitzlsperger though.
When did Messi suffer a double leg break ?
Suffered from terrible hormonal growth problems didn't he? Just as serious.
It's not though, cos hormone problems don't actually stop you playing football. Barkley couldn't even walk for months, and suffered an injury during a crucial period in his footballing development.
Not really a small risk though is it, that attacking midfield role is the link between your striker and midfield/defence. If he's crap we lose a lot of attacking potency.
Fellaini is static in there. No through balls nothing. I'm sure Barkley would be a lot more creative and things will actually go through the middle on the floor rather tha hoof.. Ofcourse it's less of a risk to play him in there. He'll have minimal defensive duties. Not sure if there is a least risky option anywhere on the pitch.
I'd like to see him in that role given that Fellaini is suspended.
I'm expecting anyone from the below list to come in before Barkley.
Naismith
Anichebe
Neville
Hitzlsperger
Fellaini has scored 12 goals in that position, and he gives us a target which we use to start a lot of our attacks.
He may not be a natural attacking player, but there's no guarantee Barkley would be more effective.
