Ross Barkley

It's really not a drama, and I don't see what Koeman has done wrong. Barkley clearly is unhappy at being criticised and being asked to work harder and has decided life may be easier elsewhere. Maybe he suggested he would run his contract down and this is Everton making it clear that they don't see that as an option. If we now get offers for Barkley, accept them and he refuses to leave it makes it clear to fans what he is up to. It also helps explain why we would stick him in the reserves for a year if he stayed and refused to sign. Barkley is holding his 'boyhood club' to ransom in a similar way to Rooney. RK is damned for going public yet if we simply sold him in the summer or worse kept him a year and he went for free next year imagine the fine and accusations of incompetence. I for one lay the blame solely at the door of a football prima donna with an inflated sense of entitlement.

If that's the case then no way would Everton have made the new contract offer.

Barkley is a man, a footballer and as for this boyhood thing that's sentimental nonsense . As for this sense of entitlement other than RK saying he hadn't signed the new contract we have no idea why.

When you go away with England and the lads get talking, that's when you change. When you find out what Delle Ali is earning at Spurs and what bonus scheme he is on, you might begin to think "Why am I only getting xxxx a week?" Ali is a better footballer but is in a better team. Ross is not far off in terms of ability and would shine in that Spurs team.

Not just Ali but imagine 6 or 7 of them all go together one evening, do you honestly think they aren't gonna discuss their wages? Don't be naïve, they are young lads earning a fortune. Even on a smaller scale, a bunch of lads under 24 who work as plumbers, sparkies, gas fitters, offshore, whatever. They'll talk about their pay and how to make more money, they'll talk about their future prospects. Out of that group you'll get one lad who'll think "I want to look into becoming an electrician, I need to learn the wiring regs and go on a course" etc etc. You'll also get someone in that group saying "You should have a look into getting into my industry, they pay good, the work is good blah blah" I think you all get what I'm talking about and it's no different from footballers. They are young and it is natural to talk about what they are getting, what it's like playing in the Champions League, going to finals, playing in high pressure games. Once lads from other clubs speak up about how much they're enjoying their football, working with xxxx, playing at xxxx, you are gonna start thinking about it, you are gonna turn up at finch farm in a stinking mood because you feel you are missing out on something somewhere else. You've been driving to the same training ground for six years, when football is on a global scale and there is opportunities everywhere.

If you work with somebody who has the same experience and the same job title but earns more, what do you do?
I stopped reading when you said ROSS was not far off in terms of ability compared to Alli
By the way Ali earns a little more than 55k so that's your other argument out the window

Bungle feels a tug on the line, becomes alert, goes to reel in. Scenes.

also people need to start comparing Ross leaving to Rooney leaving. Ross isn't going to have half the career Rooney has had - he's nowhere near the player he was at the same age or younger. I don't think (and i hope the boy proves me wrong) any of us will be looking at Ross in 5 years time thinking "wow if only he'd stayed".

Yep in one

There is clearly far more to this than we know.If it was just one player then maybe maybe it could be explained away but it's not.

Some on here say that RK doesn't rate Ros. Had that been the case there is no way that he or indeed any competent board would have sanctioned what is reported would have made RB the highest player in Everton's history. As an aside that barrier is going to have to be breached significantly if you want to attract top players to the club or keep those players that are show their worth.
If he didn't fit , wasn't up to up, wasn't liked by the manager or for whatever reason then quietly and professionally behind closed doors his agent should have been told what's what the agent would then be permitted to go looking for another club. You don't play this type of situation out in news conferences it's not professional and from the player and his agent I suspect it's viewed as confrontational and far from facilitating a resolution I suspect it's done nothing other than make Ros and his agent more determined to hold out for whatever they are looking for.

Far too many on here are pointing fingers at RB and how he has or hasn't acted. For me he has done nothing wrong he has kept his own counsel he clearly isn't happy with something most suspect it's about the money and it may well be but for me it's just as likely to be more to it and I can only keep going back to Roms reasons for not signing a new deal and that can't be viewed as anything other than a worry.
His agent doesn't have to looking for a new club
ROSS has been tapped up.
Have you seen the number of seats in the dugout in Spurs new stadium.
They won't fill themselves you know

Time for Ross to move on. If he gets the 100k a week imagine the fume next season when plays the same as the last few. Money won't make him a better player.

So Barkley will settle for what alli earns at spurs or will alli want a bumper pay rise when Ross turns up? Not to mention the rest if their top players who earn less than 100k!
I think he ll end up staying because like ROM last year, nobody of note will come in for him certainty not at £50 mil.
