I don't get how people aren't acknowledging the loss of Lukaku. Sandro hasn't played PL football and Rooney has scored 13 league goals in his last two seasons. Both good signings, but unless Sandro really hits the ground running we could be short up top.

hmm , this is a tough one.

I think our squad is much better , but I don't honestly know if our best 11 is any better. I wont know until the end of the season either.
to say for certain we are better or worse is just conjecture.
we could finish 3rd , we could finish 13th , who knows ?

it doesn't matter how much or how little we spend , we knew what we had in barkley and lukaku, but there is an unknown quantity with all of our buys so far apart from rooney.
sandro , klassen, keane martina and pickford could all bomb or not settle. but we can be more optimistic rather than pessimistic, as there is 'potential' there.

the argument is also there that we have strengthened 2 teams above us (if barkley ends up at spurs)

id be a lot more happy if we made 2 world class finished article buys. a striker and a playmaker.

Nah not a bottle club.

Otherwise we'd have sold John Stones a year earlier, and wouldn't have held out for the fee we got.

As for Lukaku, we sold him for a massive amount up front which can rise to £90m with add ons, or so I've read.

Provided Barkley hasn't gone yet, but I would prefer to keep him AND buy Sigurdsson. Also need another striker in case Sandro doesn't hit the ground running.

For me personally, without them both, we're weaker. Could change with a few signings - so I'll leave that to Koeman.

We buy Sigurdsson and Giroud and add another cb of similar or even better quality than Keane mate and we are infinitely stronger than last season IMO

Last season IF rom didnt show up or ross didnt we basically could at best hope for a 0-0, and both frequently went missing in bigger games - as did others tbf, i'd rather have a squad of 17-20 players who i dont mind seeing any start, than a team where if one of two players are missing or dont turn up, then it's game over.


Put it another way, we sold and bought no one this summer, we'd finish 7th and possibly worse, a mile short of the top 4, and would have zero chance of any cup win, now i feel like we have a chance of all of those
