Ross Barkley

Emotional and Physical;
Barkley (and a few others) needs to grow up (and slim down) The poor little flower shouldn't need his bum patted for a few boos, which weren't most likely aimed at him personally.
Get your backside into gear and put yourself about a bit. All the skill in the world is wasted with a poor attitude...and get fit ffs...it might even mean doing extra on your own you overpaid lummox
Spot on mate

Barkley is booed by his own fans in front of his team mates and also his rivals on the pitch. Must be painful for Barkley and you can see how confidence being broken. The fans do have to share the blame with Martinez and the same for Moyes. These kids are not strong enough to take crap from the fans.
My question was genuine. West Everton Blue says that Ronaldo was thriving of boos at a similar age to Ross. I can't remember his own fans booing him though at that age.
I watched a fair few Utd matches when Ronaldo was there and have watched plenty of Madrid matches. The common theme I've noticed is that he's unpopular (due to his attitude and antics as mentioned)* with opposing fans. There's a big difference.

* Real Madrid fans have booed him on occaisions but they are a special bunch and booed Alfredo Di Stefano on occaisions. The Ronaldo boos from his own fans have mainly been after he's been spouting crap in the press then not turning up at matches.

Nobody has even booed Ross anyway. There's been grumbles from the stands at times, and it must hurt the lad, because HE'S ONE OF US, but he's never been booed or singled out by the crowd.

Huge talent, who initially blossomed under RM,however like so many others,Coleman/Stones/Baines/Mirallas etc,he has actually regressed this season, hopefully a new top line boss can get a more consistent tune out of him.

....have to disagree slightly, Dario. I think his goals and assists record this season is a big improvement and something a lot of us wanted to see. I agree, though, that he hasn't played very well lately. The trouble is under this system we lack creativity (with industrious wingers as opposed to Deulofeu) so when Barkley is out of form the team suffers.

By the sounds of it, he's taken it personally.

Down to the manager to build his confidence.

I personally think Barkley needs to be dropped! His confidence is shot, his fitness is shot, he plays like a scared kid! Yet Bob keeps wheeling him out? Some players respond to that, to being thrown in at the deep end, others do not! A decent manager would have sussed out by now that Ross falls into the latter category!

Some good points there but I think you're doing him a disservice on getting fit.

To me, it looks as though the club have him spending too much time in the gym. He's become a meat head which I'm not convinced aids his game.

Ronaldo was thriving on being booed at around the same age. I know Ross is no Ronaldo, and I really want us to get back to the top with him as our leader on the pitch, but ffs Ross.

His English. We don't do arrogance.

It's why we rarely have world class players or progress well in tournaments

Yep,the frustration is he can actually turn a game on his own, first half of the season he was much more consistent IMHO,but as with the general malaise from xmas onwards he has only flickered briefly.

same difference really, there's fit and fit; Then there's aerobic fit, gym fit, stamina fit etc. The trick is the balance.

Not sure Barkley and Lukaku are the optimum shape for football, like you say meat head, lose some bulk gain stamina/speed maybe

Agree. I'd suspect it's not on him to determine which fitness plan he follows.
