2017/18 Ross Barkley

Above all this is a disaster for Barkley.

I genuinely believe that Everton will not sell him at a give away price . However, I am not sure how genuinely interested clubs like Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are in signing the player. Waiting until the last minute hoping to pick up a bargain is hardly a ringing endorsement of confidence in the ability of the player.

The player has a huge problem if he is still at Everton after deadline day. I don't believe Koeman will use him in the team, he had reservations about him last season when he had limited options.
This year we have Klaasen, Rooney and Sigurdsson all operating in the same area of the pitch as Ross.

We can't put an option to buy into a loan deal for a player who would be out of contract at the end if the loan

Pretty sure we can. In fact, I reckon this is what we did when we signed Barry on loan that first year. We still ended up paying a fee to City, even though he was technically out of contract.

I wonder if his injury is quite as serious as the reports, from what I've seen quoted they believe it's hamstring but don't know the full extent of his injury yet. I'd love to know what's going through Barkley's head right now, he must be very down.

That was on our terms and hardly bending us over... they profited from it... forcing us to sell a player for cheap on their terms? Nope tell them to do one.

...probably better than getting him for nothing in 12 months. I think £30m is a reasonable evaluation but it looks like Barkley is going nowhere in this window.
