2017/18 Ross Barkley

I wonder if his injury is quite as serious as the reports, from what I've seen quoted they believe it's hamstring but don't know the full extent of his injury yet. I'd love to know what's going through Barkley's head right now, he must be very down.
Not a lot other than which blokes bird can I pull tonight.

Not recognised it was the wrong approach. If the player comes to you and says, "look, lay off ffs, get off my back" - then perhaps don't go public about it again and explain to all and sundry what is happening and then continue to do the thing the employee would really like you not to do?

I don't fault his logic. It'd work with some players. But if it's not and you're simply creating an unpleasant working environment, then don't consciously carry on doing it. Because that's bad management - he should have realised and stopped.

But he did stop, I didn't notice him publicly criticising him after Christmas. Maybe that's because he was playing well so he didn't have to, I don't know. That interview was from February and it only talks about "earlier in the season". I think after Barkley confronted him, he definitely did lay off the public criticism.

He singled out Ross cause he knew he was under performing. He knew Ross had the ability to be the best player on the park regularly. He hardly was gonna criticise cleverley kone funes etc. He knew they were crap.

Ross us weak mentally. He shirks responsibility. Hides in big games, and flattered to deceive. We need to move past players like that. Massive shame tho cause he could have been sensational.

Yes mate, fine, if Koeman thought that (load of nonsense but let's play hypotheticals), then manage the situation.

But not publicly. Don't bash the player in public press conferences, especially when it's reached the point where the player has told you to pack it in as it's not helping.

To continue at that point is pure ego.

If you were in a job and your manager kept criticising you, despite your colleagues making the same and often worse mistakes and not getting a mention, would you be happy?

Because I wouldn't. I don't think anybody would be.
As someone else above said, ronko has literally called him out abar 2 times and it was perfectly justifiable on both occasions, the one after he got dragged off at half time especially, one of the worst performances I've seen from a player. And there's been plenty of times koeman has heaped praise on him. The boy is weak, he expects Ron to blow smoke up his ass every 5 minutes like Roberto did.

He didn't. He did the exact opposite - he then started talking about contract deadlines that only applied to Ross and not the likes of Mirallas etc.

It was non-stop. He couldn't help himself.

So he didn't do it, but when he did it was deserved. Gotcha.

He was constantly asked questions about Barkley.

There's a thousand ways to give a stock answer that doesn't kick the player. Koeman decided to take none of those options.

He got asked about Barkley regularly because the media got an answer regularly for their headlines. They'd be mad not to ask.

can't believe some of you are blaming koeman for the mental weakness of this little ferret. if I was paid the money he was to play for the team I love id let koeman shout abuse at me every time I touched the ball. get your head down and listen to what the manager is saying ( won everything there is to win near enough ) and im sure he'd improve his game because he's got the attributes

Really don't understand Barkleys decisions when it comes to staying at Everton, other than he's shagged some local hoodlums bird and told not to sign a new contract or it will be the last contract he signs.
