It really is the greatest game of all. I've only been a football fan for the past 6 years or so, I grew up with Rugby League and it still excites me more than football.

I guess it's what you were brought up on, which sport has the team that's meant the most to you for the longest time.

I can appreciate both of them, regularly check for news on the Melbourne Storm and even have a St.Kilda top and some other useless trinkets - but Everton and therefore football is always going to mean so much more!...

i disagree, aussie rules is

Everthing about AFL seems so bogan. The shirts they wear, the geeky looking referees, the commentators that look like they are 12 years old, what's with this guy has he reached puberty yet?

Football is and will always be my first love and is the greatest game of all, but i do like Rugby League. It's a damn site better than that Union snobbery stuff.

i went through school only being allowed to play Rugby League, neither junior nor secondary school played football whatsoever. we had 13 rugby pitches and not 1 football at my comprehensive.

oh, and a concrete strip which was a cricket wicket.

Bores the crap out of me, I went to school in St Helens & even that didn't give the game any appeal whatsoever. I'll probably go to a game 1 day though, just to see what the atmosphere is like

goin' off the superleague games on sky, they have a good laugh down at Knowsley Rd, lots of crackin' songs that hold no punches, probably why shgrpy's top lip enjoys it. it's always more jovial when you keep destroying the opposition though, try a saints v wigan game for your 1st.

We were only allowed to play rugby union from secondary school onwards. I hated it. Ray French, he who commentated on Rugby league was the rugby man at the school. I think we didn't play league because the school thought it was too good for that. But it was a [Poor language removed] school.

Saints V. Wigan is a good fixture, Cahill. But I kinda agree with you about RL as a whole, it's just not the same as football. I used to go when I was a kid and got bored stiff with it. But I still support Saints when I can be bothered checking on the results.
