Just call it the Halewood Rule.

The Davek rule.

religious, racial or political

So we are not allowed to make any posts which fall within those 3 boundries.

You do realise there are numerous posts and discussions in the ale house which do that dont you?

I think you need to clarify that a bit.

What if Barac Obama gets assasinated? What if income tax gets increased? What if a person gets racially attacked and its all over the news?

Can we not mention any of them here for fear of breaching those new rules?

I'm not being petty i just think its a strange rule to bring in. There have been plenty of discussions on here before covering them and yes sometimes they get heated (as do threads about EFC) but pretty much everyone on here is mature enough to keep things civil. Those few who don't get dealt with.

I guess its intended for the more blatant examples, like no threads on Tory party policies, no threads on why Christianity is bad etc etc.

I'm probably gonna get done under the "Halewood" rule now but i'm just asking :)

I do. You do realise I havent got about a year to go through over 1/4 of a million posts to remove existing ones, dont you?

I think you need to clarify that a bit.

Thanks, but I disagree.

Obviously common sense will prevail as almost everything has a political element. You will find lots of football websites, take this AC Milan forum rule out discussion on politics. A bit vague, yes. But you tend to find that most guidelines have to be.

Only the political rule is new, religion and racial posts haven't been allowed for some time.

So it doesn't need clarifying... does it? (y)

If you think it could cause confusion, I'm open to suggestions

i would imagine that rules out mr suitsblue for one, even if he does wish to make just a slight return.
anything about wishing harm upon people by burning/ aids in the rules ? as sharpy was a victim of that last week due to someones homophobia:D

The idea is, the politics and religion are such a source of hatred for people we don't want them here.

The internet is a big place, and if you feel the need to discuss any of this stuff, then there is guaranteed to be another forum for the topic.

Just not on GOT.

Yes. I meant that some posts in this forum will fall under those headers so by not allowing them you will be removing discussion from this forum in the future.

Thanks, but I disagree.

What about these examples i asked : "What if Barac Obama gets assasinated? What if income tax gets increased? What if a person gets racially attacked and its all over the news?" Under your rules which of them will be allowed and which won't. All will affect each and every one of us on here but each falls under the new rules.

You say common sense will prevail but surely once you start adding rules about what can be said and what can't you make it harder for people when those rules are so open. Thats why i think clarification is certainly helpful if not needed. For example there have been some interesting discussions on here regarding religion. Common sense was used in them and they went ok as far as i remember.

And 1 mans common sense might differ to anothers.

We are a pretty sensible lot on here really so don't see the need to rule out certain topics for discussion completly.

If we had a regualr problem with such topics being infested with arguments and hatred then fair enough but i don't think we do, do we?

Dont see what the problem is unless they get out of hand. At which point moderators can step in and deal with any problems. Unless of course they don't want the hassle.

I've seen previously vibrant forums get ruined because new rules were bought in and people didn't know what they could say and when, i don't want this place to go the same way.

I just think that things were ok as they were and previous discussions of a religious and political kind on here have been interesting and informative With the added bonus of being with fellow blues.

But its just my opinion, your forum you do what you want to do, i'm sure everything will carry on as we were and this will still be the best EFC forum around. As i said i'm just giving my opinion, i'm not complaining or having a go.

Although you might wanna change this :
