Player Valuation: £6m
Being born in Southampton, I have a vested interested in my home town team.

Since being relagated from the premership they have gone from bad to worse. Finances have been poor for the following reasons;
1. Debts for St Mary's. They were relying on money from preimership to pay for it
2. Overpaid players - once again, relying on preimership money
3. Rupert Lowe - Pocketing money from transfers like Beattie (6m) and Walcott (possible 15m).
4. Poor gates - poor performances and championship football has kept fans away - as have the £25 ticket.

Now they have been placed in administration - well the parent company has. They might get away with a points deduction and have their debts removed. If they don't find a new owner / invester then they will go bust. Do we want to see this happen to any football club?

Furthermore, Luton got hit by 30 points deduction, Leeds by 20 points (over 2 year) and I can see them launching legal action against them.

I have a biased view and want to see them survive in any way. Even if it annoys other parties. What do others not involved think?

Most definately, I have nothing against Southampton though so I wouldn't like to see them collapse. Shame to see them like this

Realistically though why would an investor buy a club that was losing so much money? It sounds like Saints need a better business model more than anything and to start living within their means.

I grew up near Southampton and my first Everton game was at the Dell back in 1988 so I too would like to see them stay afloat but clubs do have to get real. Bournemouth and Brighton have both had serious financial problems too, and Pompey would go the same way if they ever got relegated. Not as though there aren't plenty of lessons on the south coast.

Mine was too. Saints vs Everton 1994. First football game. I was then a toffee!
