it's all about Risk vs Reward. Alllardyce won't get us relegated but he equally won't get us anywhere near the top 4 or a trophy. Bringing in a Finseca or even a Silva offers a greater risk due to the style of football they play but the chances of reward are far greater than SA will ever offer. Club needs to decide if it's happy to simply make up the numbers.

I don’t think Moshiri knows what he wants.

I mean, if Watford had accepted his offer then Silva would have been here in November so it would appear he was going down the risk = reward route.

On the other hand, the “expected loss” mindset and what I see as the increasing likelihood of Allerdyce staying on suggests he is settling for making up the numbers.

Every week before the meeting with the media there is a level of expectation that Sam will give some hint about leaving... he never does and there is the resulting fume... every week.

I think that Sam is staying... but if not , it will be after the end of the season when Sam will announce that he has decided to leave even though the club wanted him to see out the remainder of his contract and he would now officially retire.

The club will thank for all his efforts and wish him well for the future and it will look as if it the choice of Sam to retire, and it might well be. Sam will be allowed to leave on his own terms but the speed at which his replacement is found will be the real indicator as to who really made the decision.

The reaction after the game tomorrow will be fascinating, if it is hostile to Sam then he is wrong and it is not a minority against him.
If the reaction is not hostile then it is fair to accept that what he is saying is correct and it is a minority that opposes him.
. @blueblue The majority of your posts are about sam and his welfare. What he will be doing when he retires, what dog he will get. Where he will buy his new holiday home with his 9mil. I think all the fans on Saturday should throw money on the pitch for him, As an appreciation of his efforts.

And to think he will dictate to us, moshiri on his knees saying please dont retire Sam, here’s another coupe of million.

I’m finally putting you on ignore I’ve had enough of reading your utter nonsense. With fans like you we don’t deserve nothing
Happy clapping.

I thought it came across differently and he wanted to maintain 8th this season, before seeing what recruitment is like before deciding on next seasons target, just my opinion.

He wanted to maintain 8th this season as it’s not sealed. Then the recruitment was about next season and seeing who we bring in. He can’t plan for top 6 with this squad as it’s clearly not good enough as it’s 8th.

He was asked about this squad and top4/6. He talked about where we finished last season, where are are currently and maintaining our ‘current’ position. Then went on to say about recruitment as this squad clearly isn’t good enough for top 6 as it is 8th so he needs to see who we bring in. That’s how it came across to me.

He was talking about currently maintaining 8th as the seasons not over. This squad isn’t good enough for 6th as it is in 8th position and he was asked is this squad is good enough. The recruitment was for next season as he needs to see who we bring in before targeting anything higher as the current squad isn’t good enough. Just how it came across to me. Clearly different for others.

Comment not really needed. It came across different to me, doesn’t mean you can insult me.

He wasn’t taking about finishing top 4/6 this season. He was asked if this squad is good enough for top4/6 next season. He mentioned last seasons 7th, then our current position and maintaining that. Before discussing potential recruitment as this squad clearly isn’t good enough for top 6, as they are 8th. He has to wait to see who comes in before knowing our aims in the league.

As I’ve said, that’s just how it came across to me.

Apologies for the use of the term clown. Your post to me was very condescending and dismissive, hence my response.

All opinions hey, although I’m still happy with my understanding of his comments. He was asked about challenging next season and was extremely negative in his response and said he was looking to maintain our current position of 8th.

Apology accepted.

Lets not forget that to get were he wants, or to maintain were we are now, that we will need to attack in games, and i dont think he has a single bit of that in him,the likes of Lookman will want to go,for me,if sam stays, its not like we were miles points wise behind others playing catch up etc when he came,We could have gone joint 7th,and 5 points behind Arsenal in 6th the day we lost to Burnley and felt away as usual till we beat teams we were suppose to,to make sam wordings etc look better etc

He should know if he is staying or going from his meeting last week.

For us fans, its hard to tell what way it will go and nothing concrete is coming out from the club to provide an answer.

If we drop to 9th or 10th after these 2 games it would cost up to 4 million in prize money.

Maybe some of his bonus is based on final league positon, hence why is talking about "maintaining that position".

As I’ve said, that’s just how it came across to me. It’s all irrelevant anyway. He won’t be here next season.

Everton relying on good transfer window just to 'maintain' current position next season - https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...everton-relying-good-transfer-window-14615034

Much more is expected of Everton next season after a disappointing campaign

Sam Allardyce has revealed his ambitions next season - but has warned it will be difficult without success in the transfer market.

Everton are currently eighth in the Premier League following their seventh placed finish last season.

Though the Blues can still mathematically match last season's efforts, they are likelier to be involved in a battle to keep Leicester at bay for the remainder of the campaign.

Much more is expected of Everton next season after a disappointing campaign, with speculation continuing whether Allardyce will remain in the dugout with vocal, negative reactions from sections of the crowd accompanying performances in recent weeks.

But when asked about what he is hoping for next season, the 63-year-old spelt out his belief of 'maintaining' the club's position in seventh or eighth.

That, however, would depend on how the club operate in the next transfer window.

"I think where we are - seventh last year, eighth at the moment - we want to try to maintain that position," he said. "But it all depends on the recruitment in the summer.

"What the quality of player might be, where is he, does he want to come to Everton? Can we get him through the door to make us better?"

When asked whether that recruitment has begun, he replied: "Plans are in place of course. Names on list, yes, but whether they're achievable is another matter.

Erm, Stephen, I think you've ruined your own point there.

Sorry, my fault. Wasn’t my intention to come across like that.

Better the devil you know eh? We've had a few posters suggesting that Sam, could fulfill a future potential remit, he's got us to 8th, could press on, better the devil you know, be careful what you wish for....Grow a pair. This is as good as it gets. Period.

If you want to see the future of Everton with Sam Allardyce at the helm? Forget, Europe, forget trophies, satisfy yourself with boring low scoring wins against Premiership strugglers and complete capitulations against the top six. Show some pride.

There isn't a club in the top ten who would hire him. And he's considered good enough for us, with our history? Despite the mocking, our motto still means something. If you abandon that, you kill the soul of the club and the memory of the players who fought with distinction for that blue shirt.

"If you know your history" Yeah I do. And every moment this manager is bridled with our club and the utter ineptness of our board that tolerates this, it's a stain on our history. There's only one way forward. Clear leadership from the top down and a manager or even a director of football that can implement a coherent strategy.

Moshiri remarked that the club shouldn't be a museum. Tell me why we have boardroom members, staff and players that belong in one, when you've been involved in the club for two years?

Quality.
