Kenwright didn't want Allardyce

That was a Moshiri call

Allardyce is Walsh's man mate, make no mistake. Moshiri met him once and turned his nose up - it was only when Walsh was telling him we are essentially getting relegated he met him again and things moved fast.

Allardyce is Walsh's man, and Moshiri's panic appointment because he got nowhere with Silva.

The whole situation is a mess

I said it at the time that going for Allardyce stunk of failure

The question is why were the players able to keep clean sheets and score goals in his first 8 games but have regressed to the depths of Koeman/Unsworth since? They’ve been dominated by nearly every side in the league. We sold Gareth Barry because we felt he wasn’t good enough anymore and he dominated our midfield last weekend. It is purely the application of the players. They can all do it when they want to but this season they’ve just not been bothered. It’s s collective malaise over the whole squad and I doubt any of them are remotely bothered by it.

Allardyce has coaxed ok football from far worse teams than this yet this group of players Just will not respond. They wouldn’t respond to Koeman, not to Unsworth, and now no longer to Allardyce. Quite simply they are unwilling to perform for anyone. The only options are to buy in s player who will set the work rate standard for everyone else to follow, or just completely sweep the lot out.

But isn't that what we're paying somebody £6m pa to sort? You can't say it's all the players fault after investing so much into the position that is meant to be coaching and motivating them.

I'm stopping away's to the "big" clubs for a bit. What's the point in going?

I'll always keep going to Goodison though, more out of habit than anything else
Huge sacrifice for me as it is getting over so sitting in toxic atmosphere for 90mins not doing me head any good. Hopefully all change in the summer by not very optimistic

We've tried that though. I just don't understand this idea that everyone's got a bad attitude, it makes absolutely no sense.

Sigurdsson isn't stinking the gaff out because he's not trying, he's just not capable of doing what we're asking of him. Niasse comes on and runs round to a ridiculous extent, DCL isn't particularly good at a lot of things but you certainly can't fault the lad for effort and the likes of Gana and McCarthy have made it to this level almost exclusively because of the work they put in on the pitch. Kenny and Martina try their hearts out but they're just not very good - we're being let down by a lack of quality, not a lack of effort.

I said similar yesterday, blaming mentalities and attitudes is just what people try to do because they can't accept we're not good enough. Everyone's been saying we lack leaders for years, and yet when we buy players who clearly are proven leaders (Barry, Williams, Rooney etc) it makes no difference. People love to mock Jagielka and say he's not a captain, and yet FIVE Everton managers have given him the armband, he captained England and was given the armband for Sheffield United at 21 years of age. Joe from Bootle reckons he's not captaincy material though because he doesn't physically intimidate the ref or single handedly win us games when we're up against it and Paul Merson told him that's what you need from a captain.

Just read that he's apparently said Rooney and Sig can't play in the same team.

If he means CURRENTLY with our plight then I can perhaps understand. But full stop?! He can't get a tune out of those two? Or Klaassen? Or Ramirez? Or Lookman?

All very weird.

100% agree mate, and this was the issue with bringing Allardyce in in the first place. I've said for a long time, what this squad needs is better coaching, they need moulding into a cohesive unit, and a style of play needs to be introduced which gets the best out of what's available. Allardyce is simply not that type of manager, never has been and never will be.

So what is the answer then? That the players aren’t good enough to compete against any team in the league? Even the games we’ve won we’ve been poor in except West Ham. Are we really saying that Bolasie Tosun Walcott Siggurdson Rooney are so poor that we can barely put a pass together?

I’d be all up for blaming Allardyce if he’d have inherited a decent side but these players haven’t performed well for a long time now apart from one purple patch under Koeman.

I wouldn’t mind Lee Johnson, the Bristol City manager.

He’s done well there. They play good football, he has them well drilled & playing some exciting stuff. They’re 5th in the Championship after being in a relegation battle when he took over & they’ve done well in the League Cup.
I'd rather have Gary Rowett when it comes to the Championship.

Bang on. Actual coaching of players individually and collectively has been sorely lacking for years and when you couple that with a muddled style of play you're always gonna be in trouble.

We're not the worst EFC squad in living memory and nor are we a side that cannot score at all. Despite those accusations we're still 9th in the league and (I think) 10th in the scoring charts (despite recent games). The tools are there, they were there for Koeman and they're there for Allardyce, they just aren't being used correctly.

I said above, to me the answer is a better coach and tactical ideas. You've just named 5 players but 2 of them didn't even play under Koeman so we can't say Allardyce can't be blamed for them not being able to pass can we? And if you're right and it's just down to application then why has he signed 2 players who aren't applying themselves?

The squad is unbalanced, and if we're honest that back 4 is absolutely horrific on paper nevermind on grass. 2 rookies, a veteran who was never anything more than average to start with and a journeyman playing out of position. It's hardly a shock that we're not great defensively with that line up is it? We were a tactical shambles on Saturday though, there was no obvious strategy as to how we would win the game, and the constant chopping and changing is ridiculous. One week Vlasic can't get in the match day squad, the next he's starting, one week Lookman's changing the game as a sub, the next he's not getting a look in, and the midfield seems to be selected by picking names out of a hat.
