Samaras on loan anyone?

Player Valuation: £35m
City just lost one of their new strikers to injury so expect some Thai peasant money squandered from the coffers of the Thai people to wing its way to Anelka or someone.

Samaras is all but locked out, and Sven doesn't want to sell. What if we take him on loan. He physically is more of a target man than any of the other strikers we are looking at. Get him on loan with a £3 million agreed transfer fee. If he is [Poor language removed] after 6 months we throw him back.

If he is any good, we sign him up. Easy.

We could do this as well as Yakubu/Vagner Love. We are down to two strikers at the moment (of premier quality) - neither of whom have scored this season, and one (faddy) with a poor record of scoring.

Can't hurt to bring in two strikers, on permanent, one on loan.

We know Moyes liked the look of Samaras (didn't he put a bid in?). Maybe he just needs a new start...

Well I'd be up for that, we need a striker desperately so a loanee as a trial would suit me fine. With Vaughan and Cahill due to return, do we really need to spend £12M on a striker, just yet anyhow?

I think we do. There are good strikers available now, or potentially good ones.

Yakubu - age, aptitude question marks.
Anelka - one season wonder, the ultimate mercenary. No thanks. Will score 15 goals for you though.
Klass Jan huntelaar - quality, but Man U interested?
Alfonso Alves - big hit in Dutch league
Vagner Love - looks the business in russia, playing for BRAZIL. (please moyes)

and probably more...

next season or January, while new target will emerge, cant see them beating this crop of seemingly available players. Although Anelka will be looking for a new move as usual.

I would say that Samaras would be a good move since Moyes lost out to City for him in the first place. Let that 12mil gather some good interest in the coffers :D and wait for the right players. As you said, bring him on loan with the agreed fee if he;s worth it.

PS: I must say, I would be a good transfer period for us if DM can pull off the Love deal as well...& MAYBE a descent right winger with Faddy on the left if he continues the way he played at Reading??? PLUS we'll even still have some change left :D

sven doesn't want to sell him, but it looks unlikely he'll play him.

cant hurt to try him on a loan provided terms are right.

Saying he is wank, how often do players sign for a team, have a nightmare and then sign for another team and look world class.

happens all the time in football.

not many players under Pearce's City played well, they are not all wank.

Of these I'd not go for Anelka.. as you said. He's the ultimate mercenary. Only goes where the moneypurse is the biggest.

I'm a bit dubious over Alves as well. He was ok/good in the swedish league and have had one great season in Holland... and therefore were drafted into the Brazil national team. But so far that's all he've had.. one great season. And his behaviour this summer makes me draw parallels to Anelka. After his season in Holland he refuses to play there and wants a move to a bigger club. Mercenary in training in my eyes.
