Closing schools because of snow around here in Warrington is an absolute joke. The teachers have clearly had their mind made up by the Thursday night that they can only be arsed working half a day. There is barely half an inch on the ground, roads are clear and it's hardly even snowing now, yet the schools have closed. This actually causes issues on the roads, rather than solves them. The way that they now treat the school and the ease with which they close the school is fostering an attitude with our children that at the first slight sign of adversity, you can just stop, give up and go home. Its bollocks.

Last year they closed cause it was windy! Windy for f*ks sake. They'll be just as safe in the school building, as they would be in the home building.

There used to be three good reasons to be a teacher, June July and August. Now theres bloody hundreds, depending on weather cycles of course.

Their attitude is rubbing off on the youngsters of today, and its going to cause issues in working Britain.

So there.

The head teacher has the final decision, with a teaching panel making the suggestion led by council guidelines.

Britain is becoming a country of fannies.

So keep them inside like the old 'Wet Play' days, and keep the front well gritted. The whole, "we cant risk claims" thing is just another way for them to renege on their own responsibilities.

It is daft how the country reacts to snow. Countries that really do have snow must laugh.

They can cope with it though. French lad in work yesterday was saying he was in South Carolina working once when it snowed and everything ground to a halt cos they didn't know what to do. Much like here. Most operations can't afford to spend money investing to keep their services open in weather which may or may not hit us for a few days each year. It's cheaper and easier just to shut them down for those days. Countries that have snow are used to it and adapt accordingly cos they have to, cos they get it every year for sustained periods.

Teachers are the hardest worked sector in society - they all say it, so it must be true...............

They are the one group of worikers who when you ask them how they are, almost every time reply "overworked and underpaid". Its not true and it's not funny. I wouldnt invite them to my funeral, dour bastards.

God forbid that we'd allow a single person's wildly inaccurate take on things to denigrate the whole profession and the vast majority of schools that are open across the country. When it comes to 'lazy arse' can we include lazy arse knowledge, lazy arse thinking and lazy arse stereotyping?

Having a go at teachers is hardly constructive mate.

It's the councils decision to close schools.

Having an early closure is to prevent in congestion in the case of it actually turning into a blizzard which it is meant to be 3:15. The schools obviously know that all the parents wont be able to pick their children up early so they filter out throughout the day rather than all leaving at once.

They have to over emphasize it, as they know everyone knows the truth - 13 weeks holiday & home in time for Countdown most days, it must be ****ing draining like.....2 best things about being a teacher? July & August :)
