And Hibs are not a great watch.
They've just lost McGeady for a while too.
Scottish football is pretty awful!
Yep,the quality of the 'also rans' in the league has been getting steadily worse over the last few years.
More than ever Rangers/Celtic need to find an alternative to the Scottish league or the current mediocrity will only continue to drag their levels down as well.
It has been a hard watch most weeks tbh.

You couldn't blame the Old Firm if they wanted to break away although being guaranteed European football every season, as they are, is a big money spinner.
Where would they go?

If they were to slip into English football I wonder how they'd get on. Bottom half of the prem/top half of championship at best I reckon. Their players would have to be a lot fitter for all the pressing they'd be called upon to do.
There might be issues regarding the fans!
Think the size of the support combined with the money would see them do alright, mid table / top half PL after a few years of the cash influx but no-one would want them there. Clubs act in self interest and there is no benefit to having them. In Scotland its a big deal for the home club to have them visit and get a decent gate, in the PL every game is a big game. They'd just be another club pushing everyone smaller down and threating those at the top.

They would both need new owners happy to put their hands in their pockets and spend big.
Lawell wants to make money not spend it and over at rangers they don't have a pot to piss in.
New owners would need to be happy buying into the background noise as well.
Can't see it happening, back when both teams were european regulars was the time, now it will be the 3rd tier breakaway European average league format if anywhere.

I can't see it happening at all. It's probably just as well because without them Scottish football would soon be reduced to the standard of the League of Ireland or Finland or whatever - no offence intended.

If an English league scenario was ever given encouragement, both clubs would move into a situation that has been frustratingly out of reach while under the constraints of playing in a under competitive and under funded league.
Don't think many would disagree that both are amongst the biggest and best supported clubs around and if they were let loose in the English league with all financial handicaps removed the potential for investment and being able to attract the best players available would be off the scale! probably wouldn't be long before they were challenging at the top of the premier league!
But as you say most clubs in England wouldn't welcome the extra competition.Only way it could ever happen is if 'SKY' decide the league needs something to spark things up and Rangers/Celtic in there would certainly do that!

Don't see it myself either tbh, but others argue that without the Old Firm there, the League would become far more competitive and with the prospect of teams adopting a different philosophy on how they play and with the possibility of actually winning the league, cups and competing regularly in Europe for the remaining clubs fans, crowds and interest from supporters would increase.

Well. It's a theory.

lol lol lol

Celtic, maybe. But not that 'kin lot you support.

You've got chutzpah, Broderick. I'll give you that.

Hope it never happens , we’re both based in scotland and should continue to play there and instead look at ways to improve the game up here. However I really don’t understand the arrogance of most English fans when they dismiss them as “ championship level “ at best . That’s a ridiculous statement . Kills me to say it but Rangers got to a European final last year ,which suggests better than championship level . If we both got into the EPL , we would both have to significantly increase our stadiums . Both have waiting lists in excess of 10k,which would probably increase at the prospect of playing England’s top teams . So I think you’d be talking both having stadiums in excess of 70k. They would both receive and generate far more income than at present and would therefore be sold to attract a better class of player . That’s not to say the current squads wouldn’t hold their own…. I think they would . Also I think teams like Hearts Hibs and Aberdeen would prosper down south and would attract bigger crowds and sponsorship and could survive in the EPL . If the Brentford Palace Fulham Brighton etc can survive then those 3 could also

Think celtics results in Europe over the last decade and more kind of proves the point that they're not as good as some people would like to believe !! 🙄

Celtic would be more than fine in the PL.

Rangers are about Championship level.
