Far from being all sound bytes it came across to me although he could never admit it, that he's put a few of these players under the cosh already in terms of are they fit for purpose and what they can do for Everton. Automatic shirts could be a thing of the past. Also liked how he stated more than once that Lewin is not the only one in the team. It all came across very well to me and sincere. I liked Lampard when he spoke but I thought more substance was on show today.

Would be nice if you're right, mate, but my sneaking suspicion is that you're reading into it what you want to, a bit, there.
 

To be fair to the guy, first press conferences, especially when taking over a team in disarray, are all going to follow a very similar format.

For me, as far as his management style goes, his best chance of succeeding to any extent with this squad is to adopt the Mourinho-esque "us vs the world" mentality.

Implement a no-nonsense style and defend it to the hilt. Vociferously back players without question and dish out the praise where it is due. This is where I think he can make a difference, and I will be interested to see his future pre and post match interviews to see if he does it or not.
