The problem is, we haven’t brought in an effective central striker. It’s nothing to do with Maupay, Cannon, Danjuma or Dobbin. It’s about who Thelwell has failed to acquire.

Not really Thelwell's fault mate when we're trying to take teams best players off them and expecting them to accept 10 quid a year in perpetuity.

I'm happy with Dyche but i'd like to see him a bit more ambitious at home with his subs. At 0-0 i thought the change should have been Danjuma for Garner and to switch Iwobi right. Front 3 of Danjuma/Maupay/Iwobi.

I reckon Cannon, Danjuma and Dobbin have all netted more recently than Maupay.

He (Maupay) reminds me of Stuart ‘The Jigsaw’ Barlow.

That's not Danjuma's position though it'll just be like when we had Gray up top - awful.

Consider the level Cannon and Dobbin have been playing at. Maupay would also score goals playing in the Championship - he has done plenty in the past.

Cannon would be worth a go ahead of him but his move to Preston is imminent and is part of his development, we shouldn't have to risk him and jeopardise that just because the useless idiots at the club are failing to bring another striker in.

…I don’t believe that in 3 windows there isn’t an effective striker in the world who Everton could buy. He apparently tried to buy Bilal Toure for £30m, yet he was purchased last summer for £8m. Those players are out there. I’m not saying it’s easy, but he’s paid lots of money to have knowledge of global market, to have contacts across the world, to identify players that fit the budget (and the pay structure).

There really isn’t any excuse. It’s a nonsense when posters say ‘it’s too difficult”. Weird how Brighton agreed to sell us Maupay for £15m.

Isn't that why he's signed Chermiti? Maybe a similar level to Bilal Toure a year or two ago. The problem is that we need guaranteed goals now and that doesn't come cheap.

Or even Simms.

Thelwell talks all this guff about sending youth players out on loan and getting them good playing time but then they recalled Simms, didn't use him and then sold him in the summer.

There is absolutely no way he is a worse option than Maupay, especially when one of, well our main way of getting the ball up the pitch is long balls into the striker.

You don't need to be an Pro License professional football coach to know that lumping long balls from Pickford or crosses into 5' 7" Neal Maupay isn't going to get you anything.

Still comes back to knowing in January this year we needed a striker. We tried Simms, tried Gray, tried Maupay...you could even throw Canon into it and you'll still come to the conclusion...it's doesn't work.

Fact is...Thelwell has had 2 windows and now he's in his 3rd. So far his CV shows selling Richarlison, Gordon, Simms, Gray (soon), and brought Maupay and Danjuma (loan).

4 attackers out. 2 in over 3 windows.

No one in the squad can fix that.

Have you seen Danjuma's stats when he has played as a forward? im guessing not

Also if we don't get a good number nine there will be a lot of pressure on a nineteen year old kid and anger that we spent that on him when we have no first team striker

….agree, he’s the market we need to fish in but the players bought have to deliver. Bilal Toure delivered for £8m. The Chermiti purchase is not a success because we acquired him, he’ll be judged a success if he’s effective.

if he’s very decent, Thelwell should be congratulated. At this point he has to be castigated.

Just like with Gnonto.

Why are we waiting to sign them after they've moved and done something for a year at a 'bigger' club at 4 or 5 times what they were bought for.

Like 20% of his games have been as a centre forward and there's a reason for that, he's a left winger, it'd be another Gray situation. Square pegs in round holes.
Have you seen how many he has scored though?.. he would be twice the threat of Maupay..

…..as far as I’m concerned, posters are totally missing the point here.

Play Maupay and we see the chances he missed today. Play Cannon and we saw the chances he missed in pre-season. Play Dobbin and we saw the chances he missed in pre-season. Play Danjuma and we saw what he did when in on goal today (albeit given offside).

We can play merry-go-round with the selections, we can criticise Dyche for not picking one over the other or substituting one for the other but the bottom line here is that none of them should’ve been an option. None of them are effective central strikers.

While all that is true he keeps picking the same option. Couldn’t believe cannon didn’t get the last 10mins. Dyche would rather keep old trampoline shins high up the pitch as we try and chase a goal. Dinosaur
