2024/25 Sean Dyche

“Sean, apparently there’s no evidence on Thursday of Ndiaye being able to play as a 10 and less than 48 hours later he was being played there against ten men. Now, does this mean you were wrong? Does it mean you were no longer as happy as you have been up until that moment with McNeil?, or did you want to move your best dribbler with the opposition down to ten men to a far more congested middle of the pitch instead of isolating a fullback he’d already shown he had the beating of?”
“Your long managerial career has more games played than goals scored, this doesn’t sound right so I had to double check and it is. Presumably it was tough at every club you managed, especially goal scoring. Yet regardless of the amount of time you were in situ goals have always been at a premium, why is that?”
I would love to hear someone have the cajones to say that to him

Keeping him is optimal at the moment, I’ve been clear on my reasons to, can this team get worse under a different manager - definitely, are conditions optimal to make a change structurally - no, can we afford it -no.

Then you think, will the dude who kept us up in a year 1 hopeless cause, year 2 point deduction - do it with neither of those things at play, logically to me, weighing all above up, I believe he will and thats what best for the club holistically at the moment.

The tipping point for me - is where Lampard got to.

The alternative plan here doesn’t seem sensible to me…

What do you want?

Sack the manager.

How do we make sure we don’t get worse?

Just pick a better one.

Who’s doing that?

Same people who picked our last crap ones.

Can we afford it?

Prob not.

Right so….
In a nutshell...quite a long nutshell, but nutshell none the less.

yea, it's pathetic. The same generic questions teeing him up for the waffling
The club shouldn't be allowed ban journos. People pay a lot supporting football
I think this is just a basic misunderstanding of what a press conference is though. The hacks aren’t there to ask tough questions and make him think and squirm, they’re there to get stuff to write in the paper. These fellas aren’t Woodward and Bernstein and they’re not trying to be, they just want a couple of quotes to write in their match preview. If you think the daily telegraph have any interest in holding the Everton manager to account for his decision making you are badly out of touch with the modern world I’m afraid.

It's a shambles now, it's obvious that several players have had enough and the crowd aren't too far behind them. He's totally out of his depth and is just digging his heels in in his pressers. He is incompetent, out of his depth and putting us in real danger of relegation. The only people who can't see that are him. Stoney, Woaney and the Dychetttes on here. Take your heads out of the sand, it's not a given that this dinosaur keeps us up.

What an utter idiot he is though. He had two and a half years to create a new narrative about himself. Even though this job was obviously way to big for him he could've made himself a go-to manager for bottom five clubs, instead he's just shown everyone that he doesn't know how to change. He'll never manage in the PL again after us and its all his own fault. What a bellend.......

The sad part is, given our players, it's not a given that any replacement will either.

Edit; Dyche has had a fair(-ish) crack of the whip, we're rapidly heading into ABD (anybody but dyche) / Tea Lady territory
Edit II; Oh and a power decision vacuum still remains

I don't want them to be Woodward and Bernstein, especially because being a poor manager for Everton isn't exactly Watergate. I would like them to at least not buy into the 1 loss in 8 narrative and point out it's 5 in 12 and we have less than 1 point per game.
I get it's about soundbytes, but the paper that asks even a slightly tougher question that fans want to hear him answer might actually get more attention.
The culture is one of mediocrity all round unfortunately.

Nah, just like Allardyce, we've given him his retirement fund. He knows he's done and will enjoy what ever time left in situ taking the proverbial out of the fan base.

No I get that individually as fans we might want that, but the point is it’s not fear of being banned by the club or whatever, it’s just a genuine lack of interest. There’s no benefit in a journalist pissing off a premier league manager by asking questions that make them uncomfortable, it’s not an Everton thing, it’s just how it is. There’s no point getting annoyed about those questions not being asked because they never will be, it’s the boards job to hold the manager to account, not the press’s.

Zero doubt whatsoever Dyche knows the writing is on the wall (whether it's next week or next summer) hence why everything he does is about protecting his reputation the media heads spout as a "top manager", "proven in the Prem", "guarantees safety", "hard to beat", "well organized" etc etc.

If you listen to the Masterclass podcast nonsense he did when he was unemployed after being sacked by Burnley (before we went with the begging bowl) he said: "I want to work, but I'm very fortunate I don't have to work".

He's in his 50s and is a multi millionaire. He'll never have a struggle, concern or worry in his life - BUUUUT.... in the richest football league on earth there will always be owners who panic and look for managers like Dyche to come in and steady the ship, no matter the style. Someone offers you £10-15m for a 2-3 year gig, what would you say?.......

It goes back even further sadly. The rot started when Howard went to Spain. 1995 apart and almost forty years worth of mediocrity since.

A bit like Coventry when they were in the top flight from 1967 to 2001. Just merely existing doing nothing of any worth every year.

There needs to be a documentary made or book written about what has been done to this club.
Crazy really isn't it 😕
