2024/25 Sean Dyche

'The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled Was Convincing the World He Didn’t Exist'

One of our worst ever managers with one of the worst ever records has convinced a significant amount of people that he is our saviour and we couldn't survive without him. Keeping us up twice equals saviour status when the question should actually be why the hell are we continuously in relegation battles. You only have to look at this guys record before us and with us and his ambitions for the season to answer that. We are exactly where we should be. This fella can slag the fans off, blame the players, blame the fact that the problems existed before he came, anything but accept responsibility.

It was mostly the fans that kept us up the past 2 seasons, not this bottom feeder. Sure the clubs got problems and the players are nowhere near top level but i 100% believe that if they were managed properly by a more competent manager with a positive attitude and ambition, we would comfortably be a mid table team that is progressing forwards.

Wrong

the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was hiring Bentiez and signing Micheal Keane for 20m

I saw an interesting stat that Dyche has one of the worst August records, with only a 12% win rate. I started thinking, is that tied to his fitness regime? Its a fact that his teams always start poorly, and then it seems they play really well for a while, before hitting a tough stretch late in the season.

Is it all tied to the fitness? He runs them ragged in pre-season so that they are so tired the first part of the season, but after the first month that fitness begins to pay off and they outrun everybody. Then at some point, because he doesnt have enough players to rotate, it wears them down and they go through a bad stretch until theres a break. Last season we were 2nd, behind only Kompanys "run-all-day" Burnley in distance covered. The next 5 teams were Arsenal, Brighton, Man City, Newcastle and Tottenham.

His 12% win rate over his 10 years in the prem shows me one thing … well one of two things.

He is stubborn and won’t change his approach or adapt and learn

Or

He is oblivious to situations that are obvious to others and does not change them.

His team selections also fall into these two categories

Either way…. We are screwed

But nobody needs to terminate his contract to remove him. Just place him on gardening leave until the end of his contract and bring somebody else in. Unless I understand something wrong.
Certain his advisers would say that would constitute termination of contract and would push for the additional payment, I doubt he would just go on gardening leave without any fight.

The clause will be worded to prevent that.

There's no one running the club to make those decisions.

Possibly Thelwell but im sure he's more concerned about the fact we possibly need, again, to turn a profit in transfers before July 2025 (so selling in January), to stay in line with PSR

Sacking Dyche and the millions in compo isn't going to happen.

And remember when we were doing poorly in pre season and the dyche apologists were saying, who cares it’s all about fitness and what happens v Brighton.

Can someone find me a prior incident of a top level football manager being placed on gardening leave while hiring a new manager, please?

And after that search returns zero results can we add any such suggestion to the swear filter please?
Wasn’t Lampard effectively on gardening leave at Chelsea? I’m sure there were reports when we signed him saying he could only take a job after a certain date

I really cannot understand the mentality that says Sean Dyche should not be dismissed now. We are bottom of the league, we haven’t any points, we have a goal difference of -8 and we have just thrown away a game which we were winning 2-0 in the 87th minute.
To give him more time to see if he can improve is a nonsense, anyone could improve on that. If that is the high bar to which we aspire then maybe those in control should keep the manager but change the motto as it appears the two are mutually exclusive.
