2024/25 Sean Dyche

Whilst our financial position continues to dictate we sell a top asset each summer to pay payments of previous summer’s transfers then people better get used to being there.
almost every club sells top assets though, we are where we are for loads of reasons, one being yes we have no money to improve our squad significantly, one of the other reasons is our manager is absolutely terrible, and his type of management died a death years ago.

The difference with us and some of those clubs over the years is those assets usually achieve success before moving on, we haven’t .

The literal future of the club as a top flight entity, the stadium, even as a going concern, has been in the balance the last few seasons and remains so yet people are saying they don’t like how Dyche answers questions in press conferences or his historical win % in certain months.

It’s the equivalent of moaning about some dust on your window sill whilst a wrecking ball is about to smash your house down.
This you?

Cos, if it is, you expected improvement on last season. Last season we got 48 points, as you love pointing out, so improvement on that would be nowhere near just surviving. When did your expectations change and what caused the change?

Logically every team level or below 48 points last season had equal or worse form than us. All of De Zerbi, Frank, Silva, O’Neill, Nuno, Kompany, Edwards, Wilder, all presided over the same or worse form over 38 games as Dyche did. It’s called the bottom half. Whilst our financial position continues to dictate we sell a top asset each summer to pay payments of previous summer’s transfers then people better get used to being there.
Kind off, but going 13-14 games is worrying, his overall tally was ok.

5-6 can easily happen, even 2 wins in 10-11 or 1, if you have a hard fictures list with back to back top 6 games.

I think it's fair to say we improved as a team, but not in comparison to the league that it lift us up. There is barely a team that hasn't improved, maybe Wolves...

The only measurement of form that matters is 38 games. Whether you have two purple patches or win once every 5 games, it doesn’t make a difference if you end up with the same points at the end of the season. We don’t need to count three games, ten games, those specific ten games between wins, or maybe some games from last season. The league have already specified the sample that matters, 38 games home and away against every other team.

But you have made a big deal about him doing well getting 48 points which would be 12th.

And then lower you expectation from that to ‘hoping’ for survival? So you aren’t even confident he can do it.
Last season was a significant improvement on the previous season, hence why I personally can't see the sense in using last season as a reason to fire the manager.

The off the field turmoil and bad start has me nervous for sure, of you offered me 40 points and survival I'd take it. It would definitely leave Dyche in a more precarious position job security wise, especially if we complete a takeover and can look more long term.

Tactically inept are the words that spring to mind.

How can you send players out with no tactical instructions? Working hard will only get you so far, especially when that should be the minimum expectation by any manager.
And it becomes unsurprising that players like Tim with little PL experience don’t know how to stem the flow when you all of a sudden let in a last minute goal. And honestly experience doesn’t even matter, if everyone knows what to do when you are suddenly up 2-1 in the last five minutes, or when the other team equalizes in extra time, you execute your plan and follow tactics to see out the game. Unreal to not have a game plan for that situation, let alone just normal positional tactics.

We've held onto 1-0 leads from 3 minutes into a game. Cmon, you can't say that's a coaching thing.

I tend to blame the players in that scenario, but if the coaching staff is genuinely not giving specific tactical instructions to a central midfielder, you have to wonder. Really just reacting to those contrasting quotes. To be fair Dyche has made a career out of grinding out low scoring wins, so who knows.
