2024/25 Sean Dyche

I think that was poor from Textor. Dyche knows, as do we, that when the ownership changes, so does the management. It was only ever going to be for a few seasons.

For Textor to question and, imo, undermine him in that way was really thoughtless and unprofessional.
It's exactly how Dyche treats players himself though? The players this, the players that, they're not ready/good enough, they're making mistakes, absolutely no good players in the youth team (like Dixon, currently in the first team) - those are almost verbatim things he's said about our players which he apparently doesn't coach.

Calls them out constantly in the hope that they do better for being told off publicly, and is a "man's man" and some sort of man management genius apparently.

Gets called out that he would need to do better to keep his job, which is exactly the sentiment around here anyway - "ah, that's thoughtless an unprofessional". Yeah, maybe Textor should've come over and bashed his head in or something, that'd be proper normal I guess.

If that thing about the extra year’s salary if he’s sacked is true, then he will actually earn more if he gets sacked than if he sees the season out. I’ll be watching his decisions with great interest over the next few weeks.
The decisions will be exactly the same as the ones so far - poor and not thought out.

Not out of some sort of malice, it's just that he knows 1 thing and 1 thing only so he'll stick to what hasn't worked for ages.

Tony mate, any player who hears that will think one of three ways.

Great they're gonna start rewarding talent and I'll finally get the chance to get games and show how good I am.

Crap they're gonna bring in someone better than me and I'll be sold or dropped.

Great they're gonna bring in players that can improve the team and I'll get to show how good I can be with better teammates around me.

Of those three answers anyone in category two we shouldn't want anywhere near the club.

And that's the ones who won't be happy hearing this
Yup, a lot of truth in that. There are probably (hopefully) a lot of players sitting in that dressing room thinking they could be doing so much better with better team mates and a better manager, so to some it might be seen as a beacon of hope that the prospective owner is talking about bringing in better players. Especially if you're, say, a centre forward who is sick of chasing crap long balls all game.

And of course the sort of rebuild Textor is talking about doesn't necessarily involve a jettisoning of the existing squad beyond what is naturally happening next summer with contracts and loans expiring, most of the players we'd prioritise moving on are naturally moving on anyway and hopefully if they can be replaced with higher calibre players it would benefit those who remain also.

I wouldn't know the exact details about any of that which you've mentioned mate. I know something went on with Patterson, but don't know exactly what. I can't recall when Dyche has publicly slagged individuals off, but then I don't watch every press conference. Even, assuming all of the above you state is true, two wrongs don't make a right. Him undermining the current manager, as well as one of our new signings, and starting to name players from other clubs just doesn't sit right with me, especially as he's not even our owner yet.

I agree he doesn’t have a clue in general, however what does he actually stand to gain by seeing his contract out over being sacked and paid for an extra season that he isn’t contracted for as it stands?

Two wrongs don't make a right but the outcry for something Dyche does himself weekly is quite frankly hilarious nonetheless. Him doing it also doesn't and shouldn't sit right with any Evertonian, yet, "messiah", "savior", etc., as he's actively slagging off fans and pretending he's not part of the problem and has barely made a wrong decision in his time here.

He'll get his "man's man" card revoked, that'll clearly stop him

He'll get over it quite quickly and then smear snot on his forehead or something though.

Shared similar view before.

My worry is he knows he's gone this season no matter what, so he's dialled up self preservation mode which does nobody no favours.

Dyche's stock is still high based on last season. He done a decent job last year against the odds, the 4th best defence, the points gained etc. They are factual.
People (us lot) can, and do argue, about the way that was obtained, style of play, Manager X would have done better etc etc. If he gets us to mid table again, maybe even has half a cup run, it puts him in good stead for his next job. He won't want to spoil that by doing a poor job and being sacked.

Not sure I agree, based on the above post.

If we lose the next few and he's sacked with us 20th, his stock falls.

He's talking himself up, reminding what was before him - putting onus on players. Self preservation, IMO.

That only gets more when you have a prospective owner saying what he's said. It's not helpful.

Furry muff mate, tbf I rarely if ever watch press conferences or interviews.
