2024/25 Sean Dyche

You can acknowledge mitigating circumstances.

It can strengthen your critique.

Not acknowledging it just makes you look blinkered.

I'm not acknowledging we sold our " best players" because we didn't, we have sold most of the rubbish at the club, some youth players, let contracts expire, and then to top it up sold some of the first team players.

it's making stuff up to try and justify the job this dinosaur is doing.

Why is he comparing Southampton to Liverpool? Liverpool are a significantly stronger side.

And say if someone did complain about the lack of possession against them despite a victory. They would be verbally slaughtered.

Last season was crap at the start because we were playing the same way as we are now but with no striker up front, remember our first goal of the season was from Beto the day after he signed against Doncaster. Yet whilst we knew we still had Michael Keane in defence, it was only single errors that led to a defeat so only conceded 9 in 5 games.

This season, not only do we have strikers (poor/out of form aside) but at least they are strikers. It's the sheer drop in quality of what is a fully fit squad Branthwaite aside. That's the issue.

I reckon he'll get at least 2 more games, but 2 defeats and he'll be off

We created a bunch of chances in those matches though, and 4 of the 9 goals were conceded in one match. We were better than Fulham and Wolves, we just couldn't score goals despite all of the chances.

This year is different. The only match where we could say we were the better team was Bournemouth, but unfortunately the matches are played in 90 minute increments, not 85. Even against Villa, the two goals, while appreciated, were completely against the run of play.

Missing Branthwaite is huge, our fullbacks have only gotten a year older and slower, and we have an imbalance in midfield.

Definitely different this year but perhaps the biggest difference is the opposition have been better.

People were on here within minutes of that win, still complaining about Dyche mate.

Including possession.

Really? Wow . Well he was wrong then, people did complain. Comparing the two sides tho is a bit much.

Imo I think it’s best he goes end of the season , keeps us up this year, thanks and good luck for the future. Long term i don’t think he’s the answer and there is clearly a lack of unity with a growing number of supporters.

Have to agree.

Personally, I'm not having a go at people clearly frustrated and angry (it's hard not to). But my POV is trying to be level headed as possible because as I've said from the off... we're getting into that territory as a fanbase where no matter what Dyche does (he could get us winning 3 on the bounce), we won't back him or the players and we'll all start scrapping and put non-existent CEOs in headlocks.

I just don't think 4 games in we're there yet.
What we talking about then 7 games in? As you will get that in the next 3 weeks.

Dyche will not change, I think fans need to remember, Dyche was sacked by Burnley for only winning 3 games in 30 so he doesn't have a good record.

Oh yes he also went 4 months last season with us, without wining as well so maybe it's not just the 4 you are saying, it's certainly not knee jerk

Definitely different this year but perhaps the biggest difference is the opposition have been better.

We've given up at least 3 goals in each league match this season. We didn't hit that mark (conceding 3 goals in 4 separate matches) until March of last season, more than a full turn through the fixture list.

There's no excuse for these results, specifically the defending. Do I think it will continue given Dyche's track record? No, but subjectively I don't see how this stops...we've really shown no signs of being capable defensively.

We don't need him to change. We need him to get the defense right.

We won't be either when we have the likes of Mykolenko, Keane and Young in a back 4 as we have.

oh ok, so your changing the goal posts from "best players" to just players now.

every single one of them players we sold, most fans where happy about.

we also had better seasons ( last season ) than without all of them except Onana, who again was on the bench towards the end of the season.

your clutching for straws with every single post you make about dyche

They were some of our best players, that’s why they were sold. They were the only ones that would go for any money. Name me some other wide players Everton had that went for 40 mill and 20 mill? Or another midfielder that would go for 50 mill?
