2024/25 Sean Dyche

To be fair mate both sides of the fence are throwing barbs at each other over the manager.

Which is mad...he'll live and die by his results, especially when TFG take over but think everyone just needs to settle down a bit coz it gets a bit hysterical.

That dressing room stuff is a nonsense.
Its those middle of the ground people that wind me up the most!

Plant your flag in the ground of your opinion, do the hard yards and stick to your opinion!

This is all fine but none of it has any relevance to on field performance this season. We finished 12th with 48 points in the real world last season, what has happened over the course of this summer to weaken us by 10+ points?

If we are in the thick of a relegation battle come the start of December then he should absolutely be sacked because that is not under any circumstances where we should be.

I agree with this.

The two are different. His job over the first 18 months of his time with us has moved us up the table from where we were.

We’ll see where we finish this season, but the criteria for any manager under Moshiri has been if it looks like we are on a likely trajectory to relegation Moshiri fires them. Dyche would be no different.

The difference is this time if he fails to beat 12th place/48 points we’re not talking about the future of the club being at stake, we’re just taking about a manager who couldn’t move us further forward. That’s not an uncommon reality across most teams outside the top 6 with the likes of De Zerbi, Lage, Rodgers, Bielsa, Frank and countless others all struggling to keep continuous progression season on season going.

My view is he should be replaced when we have cash coming in that allows a better standard of player. Hopefully that comes soon. Ild have no objections to letting a limited manager like Dyche go in that scenario. Until then we'd be cutting off our nose to spite our face sacking Dyche if he's still keeping us out of the bottom three.
I can't disagree with his.

The second the takeover is confirmed the situation completely changes. Until that point whilst Moshiri remains at the rudder and uncertainty rules, and we are drowning in debt, then a pragmatist who can work in these conditions is good to have.

And we've brought in 2 players in Ndiaye and Tim who have improved us big style.

We have a manager who massively divides opinion and a fanbase who largely overreact to any given situation (a result of years and years of having our dreams smashed). I give credit for the job done last season, and I never thought we would go down. Many, many fans on here were adamant we would get relegated, convinced of it. So for me Dyche deserves credit for keeping us up lat season.

This season is different, we have an improved squad, and have some goals being scored. So Dyche should quite reasonably be expected to have us plying better football and winning more points. However, given the injuries, and new players fining their way, judging performance on the last games is unfair. It is the next four or five, he should be judged on. Our best 11 should be comfortably mid-table, particularly as we are starting to find our shooting boots now. If the defence settles, i fully expect us to start moving up the table. I do not want to keep Dyche by the way, I just think the hysteria being displayed so early needs to be tempered a little. Let’s see how we do with Branthwaite back and a more settled and confident defence.

If we improve, then it takes the pressure off the new owners to get (maybe) their second choice manager in to stop the slide. If we turn it around, then they can wait (if they have to) to get their first choice?

Do us a favour and pull up the quote where i said he'd done well to keep us up after the Bournemouth match but we need to get rid of him and get someone better if we want to be anything but relegation candidates.

Ive never been a fan of dyche and never wanted him here at everton but when he was announced. I drank the cool aid and got on board like i did with every other manager because i want everton to be the best. But it was blatantly obvious after dyches first half a season in charge he would never be that man.

Well, as I said in bold here;

Do you not think Dyche has done well keeping us in the Prem?

This was a week before we hired him.

You've said there, a massive ask for any manager to keep us up. He achieved it.

Since then, we've had point deductions and sold more than we've spent. Still stayed up.

Short memories. You can still say you want him gone, without dicrediting what he's done.

Too many are too quick to downplay the state the club was, and still is in.

You might recall massive point deductions last season - we weren't sacking and hiring a new manager in the summer.

Because, again - as you said the week we hired Dyche;

As much as I agree with you id say its too late anyway now.

Got to win 8 out of 18 games to stay up itd be a massive ask to any manager. Let alone the dross we'll be linked with because of this inept board.

Whoever is coming in has to have one eye on the championship let's be honest.

Personally reckon it'll be Rooney. Did well in the championship, had no money, had to promote from the academy and "gets the club".

We're everton football club ffs we should be able to attracted the best up and coming coaches in the world. Not the elite obviously but the next level down and We're literally having to scrap the bottom of the barrel because the board is still living in 2007.

Nothing has changed since then - in fact, it's worse. Since then, that's multiple transfer windows with big profit, and point deductions proving what a chaotic club we are. How many managers are lining up?

Until there's new ownership in place, we're still scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

People can, and should acknowledge the job he's done. It doesn't mean you're saying you want him here beyond his contract.

If he left tomorrow, history would be very kind to Dyche at Everton.

Im not arguing his records great nor am i a massive fan. Hes our manger at present and gets a lot of flak and plenty of it warranted. I just dont get the doom cult on here of finding excuses to hammer him for every single decision he makes. We won yesterday for the first time this season and all ive read on here is people finding newer and more bizarre reasons to have a pop at him and i find that a bit weird. Anyone who gives him an inch of leeway or an ounce of praise is labelled a Dychette (Whatever thats supposed to be) or is accused of hailing him a miracle working messiah and after a while it becomes tedious.

6 games in.

You're talking 3 results being the difference.

We didn't achieve 40 points until the run in last season.

We were in a relegation battle last December.

It's small margins. I've credited Dyche for overperforming last season - but also said he/we were lucky with injuries.
