2024/25 Sean Dyche

Plenty will lap it up, unfortunately I haven’t read the echo piece by Ball, but has an ex everton player actually criticised dyche in the last 21 months. Alan Stubbs is on the view form the bullens pods and has to a degree, but in the media it’s constant head tapping, Everton will be fine, dyche will keep them up. That’s all you hear and unfortunately some of these pundits don’t really watch us, but are taken in by the noise dyche spouts.

This is why the echo journalists, guilia bould, even Boyland at the Athletic, do my head in, They’re terrified to criticise anything or anyone at the club,
We basically have nobody to fight our corner. Thomas and beesley have just constantly praised him from day one and think he should get a new deal, Beesely even had a pop at the fans at the back end of last season.

I know it’s Man Utd, but now the media and ex players are going after Ten Hag,
He’s a deadman walking. Our journalists have no standards anymore, only interested in, staying cosy with the club to get their interviews.
Mainstream media aren't interested in us unless we are in crisis.

Has been the case since Kenwright - head-patting when we finished 4th too.

There was a bit of respite once Moshiri arrived - but obviously that went.

Will be interesting to see if TFG turn that around.

The reason most of them go " easy " on the club and the management ( whoever that may be at the time ) is that they have to tread a fine line about what they report and how they report it, due to the fact that it`s very easy for the club to blackball them if they want / restrict access.

And we`re pretty much irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, same as most of the teams in the league outside the Sky six - hence why they`ve all got a hard on for Ten Hag at the mo.

To be fair though, there's easy and there's blatantly rose-tinted - "Dyche is great for Everton and deserves all the plaudits and nothing bad ever" and so on is just nonsense and you need to watch/go to 1 of our games to see it.

Last part is true tho yeah, we're pretty irrelevant and have been for ages.

yeah, unless something changes with him in terms of his mentality I don’t see him making the very top, but maybe that’s the gift of the top managers, they can instill a collective fighting, competitive spirit.
fixed that for you mert.
That collective fighting spirit comes mostly from - even though you're bricking it - you don't want to let your mates down
But there has to be some in there first.

Anyway time will tell

It's gotten worse in the last few years too - perhaps super-league prep ?

I've been using Football365 as a barometer and nowadays you usually have to scroll pages and pages before there is much outside the top 6 - and foreign CL club news is ahead of british clubs outside top 6 - it's like they've given up now.

I used to read it a bit, totally stopped now.

I find all the head patting and good for Everton and he will keep them up very nauseating too. Literally nobody will speak the truth, very little criticism. It has taken decades of mismanagement to descend to the levels it is at now. Everything will change once the Friedkin group take over. The club will be unrecognisable. It is the thing i am looking forward to the most.

That’s simply because no one sees us as a big club anymore. This is the result of a generation of lowering expectations. If we act like it, others will treat us like it so we are now categorised along with the smaller PL clubs. Infuriating and frustrating I know but we are where we sadly. The only one who can change the perception of us as a club is the club itself.

Starting with hiring a manager that doesn't constantly reinforce the small club narrative

There was a segment on Talksport while I was in the car the other day coming up which was ‘is Everton the toughest manager job in the PL’. I turned off. It’s not been easy no one is suggesting it is, but if we’re comparing the squad we have with say an Ipswich or a Southampton who have just come up, I would suggest their manager jobs are tougher, but a Dyche keeps pedalling the narrative in press conference about ‘behind the scenes’ and all that. It’s just a reputation protecting, CV garnering attempt at getting his next job.

Either reputation protection like you say, or he can't handle higher expectations. Maybe a mixture of both. The media love segments like that and hate any sleeping giant chat

We literally had 8 points removed from our tally last year. This is a tangible, objective result of mismanagement from "behind the scenes."

You would hope that we wouldn't have a further breach, but that is still to be calculated.

He's had a horrible start to this season and he's at fault for that, but to suggest the circus surrounding the football squad isn't an extraordinarily difficult situation is incorrect.

Not saying it’s not been difficult, I even said that in the post abive. I said it’s not the toughest job in the PL. Do you disagree?
