2024/25 Sean Dyche

That’s simply because no one sees us as a big club anymore. This is the result of a generation of lowering expectations. If we act like it, others will treat us like it so we are now categorised along with the smaller PL clubs. Infuriating and frustrating I know but we are where we sadly. The only one who can change the perception of us as a club is the club itself.

I think the truth is always in the table. A club that spent 7 of the last 10 season on bottom half will mostly be considered as a smaller club, and looks like it's gonna be 8/11, even when Everton is historically one of the biggest club in the country.

Hope the new owners will keep word for getting rid of debts or most of to be in a position to spend money wisely with a good manager to move up on the table again to have the stability in prem like under Moyes or even better.

Under Kenwright he wanted us to stay the last of the traditional type clubs whereas our peers were growing and being run as proper businesses. We have been left behind hugely in recent years and by the time Moshiri came in sadly it was a bit too late by then. It's not surprising we are seen as a small club as we have acted like one in the by and large.

Not saying it’s not been difficult, I even said that in the post abive. I said it’s not the toughest job in the PL. Do you disagree?

I guess that depends on what you think the job is.

It think it has been for the past 3 years. The teams don't operate in a vacuum, regardless of the complete mismanagement of the club, expectations are still monumentally higher here than at Ipswich or Southampton. McKenna gets Ipswich relegated, that's the expectation. Dyche gets this dumpster fire of a club relegated, he probably doesn't get another job in the PL in his lifetime.

You have an absentee owner, 5 different groups who have tried to buy the club (some of whom attending games and met the staff), a talent drain in the squad, a complete mish-mash of players and posers multiplying the wage bill, questions in every press conference that have nothing to do with your job and you have no control over? Yes, it's been the most difficult job over the past three years.

Having said all of that, what I expect out of him is an organized defensive squad that can defend set pieces. That's the bare minimum expectation for him. We have not been that for any of the 6 PL matches this season. And that is 100% on him.

The mess will shortly be taken away, and if he's given the chance the "excuses" will no longer be valid.

In the last two fixtures we had the best XGC in the league that hints to a big defensive improvement. XGC is lowest expected goals conceded (xGC), as opposed to XG - expected goals.

Get an Everton defender in to your FPL squads.

And gave up a set piece goal in the last match.

We can blame the first four matches on personnel, but this is his brand, if he can't organize a defense then there's little reason for him to be here.

Last two - Leicester was avoidable also IMO - bread and butter, agree 100%, needs to be tighter and we should have conceded more of the same against palace.

Ah so we're moved on from xG (where we're 17th) and are now to xGC as the new copium. xGA also skipped as it doesn't fit this narrative either as we're also around relegation candidates.

Hope Dyche himself picks this up as well, fantastic stuff, love me some new excuse.

I’m far from a dyche devotee but All id say here is there are different expectations on the promoted managers aren’t there . Nobody is expecting anything from Southampton or Ipswich and Leicester fans seem to think relegation is a tough battle . Despite repeated relegation battles we’re rightly demanding to be in the prem and we started the season with loftier ambitions .

Man Utd I think is up there is tough jobs wise but I do think a club our size where you’re having to buy players on the never never , No board , riven by financial mismanagement, deductions and pending deductions, an absentee owner , marrying at times a fanbase who both rightly think the club is a giant with two fullbacks who are about the managers age . A side who haven’t won a trophy since I had a respectable waistline but believe we should compete . I think the disillusionment of the fan base doesn’t help either .

Honestly I think it’s about the toughest job out there or certainly it’s in contention . All this doesn’t mean I’m saying dyche is pulling up any trees mind .
