Croatia are a strong side. They have got one thing England have yet to face so far, some genuine world class players (I don't count the Belgium dead rubber game).

It's anyone's game.

they might be a strong side but their performances against denmark and russia clearly demonstrate that they are not great.

It demonstrates nothing other than its a world cup. No side goes through a world cup sweeping up everything in their wake.

England's performances have not been great either, they have been effective. When it comes to the business end of a tournament its usually the world class players who will make the difference. As with most games like this first goal will be crucial.

Not worth playing this. If either side fancy the bronze medal then I suppose it is. But this is the SF to decide who goes through to be pumped by France....it's a bit like that CL SF between Liverpool and Roma.

While i agree France have to be favourites you've been consistently negative throughout.

We would almost certainly have been knocked out by Brazil in the quarters (even Japan weren't so easy) if we'd gone into the other half of the draw.

Getting to the final would exceed the wildest and most optimistic of pre-tournament predictions and once there you always have a chance. Noone will remember the route taken in years to come.

Arsenal beat City and champions Chelsea in our own FA Cup a year ago against all predictions. France on home soil were huge favourites to beat Portugal in the Euros but didn't, (Portugal getting through from the easier side of the draw too).

I've never been so glad to see England lose than that reserves match with Belgium, I was desperately hoping they didn't equalise.

You usually get a silver medal for second not bronze anyhow

That's why France wont lose. They're focus is as sharp as their play. They are righting a wrong at this World Cup and they have destiny about them.

They have been simply head and shoulders above any country in this.

I agree France look the part after stumbling performances in their group stage, in a 50/50 match tonight they got the break and defended well.

They were far greater favourites against a very ordinary Portugal two years ago and somehow failed after failing to convince.

The sum of their parts has often been greater than the whole although they'll yet again start as favourites.

It would be foolish to think a one-off match so much of a foregone conclusion though it's not a league where the best team invariably finishes top.

Chelsea beat the higher fancied Spurs in the cup final (3rd in the league well clear of their London rivals in 5th)

Portugal and Arsenal as mentioned

Wigan, Birmingham City, Portsmouth and Swansea have won domestic finals

Cups are different, getting to a final is always worth it.

France have stumbled before and can again.

Even the bookies are giving less than 3/1 best price on England winning it although admittedly that can partially be accounted for by the money on them. (Bookies don't lose cash by paying out lol)
