BBC NEWS | Business | Setanta 'is on brink of collapse'

Cant say that i feel the slightest bit sad. This channel is sh*t. Setanta news is just laughable, but the birds on it are fitter.

What worried me was as follows;

"Setanta faces administration "within days" unless backers provide more funds to pay £30m it owes to the English Premier League"

Does that mean that we will end up short?

Yes, it means we get screwed and will now have to sell Lescott, Arteta and Cahill.

Chooooo, chooooo Bill.

Im gonna miss Special 1 Tv tho, that was the only good thing on that Sultana channel.

Setanta is a boss channel.

Their football coverage was ace and they gave you more [Poor language removed] to watch.

News was crap, but it's freeview.

Bye bye setanta *giggles*

good riddance

bit of a worry about the money though:unsure:

clever clogs at the premier league have learnt from the ITV Digital dibacle and if Setanta goes under, the rights revert back to the prem, so they can resell the short fall. One will go to sky, the other has to go to another company under the EU agreeement about competition.

I will miss the fact it was a lot cheaper than Sky Sports. Other than that, their coverage was awful at times. Their pundits were terrible too. Whoever thought giving Paul Parker a job was a good idea needs shooting.

Bit sad as the internet links I used got me setanta to see the games on Sat, or whenever. Hope I'll get them somewhere else :dodgy:

They ballsed up a bit too. Setanta Ireland always had the 3.00pm kick offs and the afternoon kick offs. English Satanta only has the afternoon kick offs. Have that for your subscription fee, you're doing more than BskyB = more subscribers.

Then the whole "selling the highlights" of the England matches must have kicked them in the teeth when no one bought them because they over priced em.

Bit off more than they can chew.

But saying that its good that another company came in and gave Sky a run as they were dominating everything. Satanta gave more options, and allowed more games to be shown for both channels. Also the "pay per view" games were jibbed off, which is always good.

I think someone should bail em out.

Could be very bad news for Premier League clubs. Industry experts are saying that if the three year package from 2010/11 Setanta bought over the odds for needs to be resold it'll fetch a lot less now. And given clubs' tendency to spend on a promise of future revenue that could impact badly on a club like ours which leans pretty heavily on the tactic of using projected tv earnings to operate. I'm surprised Elstone didn't mention this in his blog today where he blithely assumes all is well with the Setanta 3 year deal: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/as-promised....html?page=full

Agreed Setanta here is boss. Actually were pro Everton over Chelski on Cup day.:(Sad to hear this administration thing.

This will be a nightmare for us across the pond as they showed 2-1 the number of Everton games. A lot of Irish Evertonians even abroad in the great state of Tennessee.
