a lot of goals there.....might even be fair to call him a goal machine...

He's looked utter dogshit for England when he's played in fairness.

Against who? Brazil? He's only had 5 caps - played 60minutes against Brazil, 10 minutes against Croatia in the Euro, and on the bench against Ukraine and a very others. Never really been given a chance at all in a full strength England squad.

Defoe's been gash for a while at interntional level, then hits form, scores in a few qualifiers...all is good.

But how much does a striker need to do to get a big chance?

Can you imagine being a goal down against Brazil with 10 minutes to go..... there's movement on the bench... last throw of the dice for England..... and they're taking off Rooney and bringing Bent on.....

He's just not England class. I'd rather Zamora went. And he's pretty gash too.

And you base that on what? A handful of cameo appearences and a game against brazil with a team minus most of the england first team?

On that assupmtion players like jagielka aren't international clas either.

I went for yes. My reason is because of his form and to play for England I believe you have to show and be in very good form. The stats say he should go and id be happy with that. However I would say I would pick Crouch before him because he is a proven England goal scorer.
Bent is the second best English striker, he should go.

Don't forget Cappello said he would pick players playing regulary and in form.

So don't expect him to pick Bent and to pick one of his faves instead.

Bent is the kind of striker who's effective when he's the focal point of the attack. There are too many selfish players on the england squad and he'll never any service.
